Lot of brickbats for Doordarshan??? Wow, at this rate, they look to be the most hated channel in the world!!!

I found them unbearable too during the Asia Cup 2004 when I was in India for a visit! Awful presentatioN!!!

Asia Cup 2004 rights were with ESPN-STAR,
What you are talking about may most probably be the 'sharing of telecast' with DD.
The presentation of even the aussies channel 9 ill be unbearable on Doordarshan.

Thats because they use their own commentators on the feed they are getting from other channels.
I wonder why there wasn't a Poll in this thread with choices of "for" and "against" Doordarshan.

i am actually for DD for this reason only:

i go to visit india every year. In madras, and madras only in all the cities of india, you have to buy an expensive cable box, (AKA "Set-top box) to view any channels exept DD, and some news, and some tamil channels. My grand fathers cannot afford to buy the expencive cable and them, being cricket lovers, cannot watch the match. So, when DD gets rights, we all jump in joy because we can watch the match without the set box. I dont really care about the presentation (although it is good if they have good presentation), as long as i watch the match. For the people who say pay tv is dirt cheap in india, speak for yourselfe cuz in madras, its like Rs. 2500/- a month. ( $50 USD) thats more than we pay here in the US, and how do u expect a 75 year old retired man to pay for it?
