Thing about it is when it was initially the ICC Knock Out it was basically to raise funds for the developing cricket countries and the 1st two were held in Non Test Countries, but I wonder if it's now just going into ICC coffers and Indian satalites

TBH I'd like it to be scrapped for something like a Test World Cup,
Hasn't there been ideas of a Test Cricket World cup floating round for the last 30 years or so. But nothing apart from the World Test Championship has come of it. Yes it's played over 4 years and all but there has been talk of an actual test cricket tournement for 30 years or so

The problem with a test world cup would be the time,it would nearly take up the entire summer,so there wouldnt be any time for ODI's and 20-20's which is what really brings the crouds in.

They don't absolutely have to play it all in one country in one season. It could be modelled after the Intercontinental Cup, and played over 1 year in several countries.

Fair enough, but what about the crowds, there would hardly be a crowd for a Bermuda V Australia match for eg,however the same fixture can bring crowds in a ODI or 20-20 as there is a chance of an upset happening. Also, how would the event be spaced, the World Cup is normally a 4 year event, but if the event itself is spread over 1 year or even more,it would have to be held less frequently. The only good solution I can see is making the entire event a knockout,so each match has its significance, and the total number of games played is also eventually less.

Yes, or at least change the format. whats the point of having an almost identical version of the world cup. Just less countries.

Maybe a change to twenty20?

EDIT: Or yeah a test one sounds good..
