I was just thinking, does any nation have a team anywhere near as good as this one with all surnames starting with the same letter? Quite amazing, how many of Australia's players surnames start with the letter H.

Phil Hughes
Daniel Harris
Brad Hodge
Michael Hussey (*)
David Hussey
James Hopes
Brad Haddin (wk)
Ryan Harris
Nathan Hauritz
Shane Harwood
Ben Hilfenhaus

Might've missed some, pretty sure I got all of the main ones in though. Daniel Harris is probably the weakness in the lineup, but he's averaging 37 in the Sheffield Shield this year, isn't really too bad.

We did. But DAMN! That's a strong H team.

Doesn't even have the recently retired Hayden.

Virender Sehwag
S. Shukla
Yuvraj Singh
Rohit Sharma

S. Sreesanth (yea thats his last name)
Harbhajan Singh
RP Singh
Ishant Sharma
VRV Singh

Hmm I can only come up with on the top of my head. Like 6 of these have already played for India/do play for India, so it's already pretty nice. Can someone else help me out here?

The Aussie team looks stronger though. Although if Yuvraj and Sehwag get going it'll be good!

FC/Test Team:

Michael Brown
James Benning
Ian Bell
Ravinder Bopara
Ian Blackwell
Ali Brown
Jon Batty (WK)
Stuart Broad
Tim Bresnan
Rory Hamilton-Brown
Gareth Batty

OD Team:
James Benning
Ali Brown
Ian Bell
Ravi Bopara
Ian Blackwell
Chris Benham
Jon Batty (WK)
Stuart Broad
Tim Bresnan
Rory Hamilton-Brown
Gareth Batty

That was much harder than I thought it'd be, seems there aren't many decent fast bowlers with a surname beginning with B outside Broad and Bresnan. Just means that Bopara and Benning will have to chip in with some medium pace, with spin coming from Hamilton-Brown, Batty and Blackwell. Think the Aussie team wins :p. Although if Brown, Benning, Bopara and Bell all go well in an OD game you'd be set for a massive total, especially with the depth in batting with Hamilton-Brown at 9. It's not a bad side, but nothing on the Aussie H's.

I say Patels and Pathan's are the best shot for India. The letter P is pretty good for India:

Parthiv Patel
Irfan Pathan
Yusuf Pathan
Munaf Patel
SA Pai
RR Parida
Pujara
Parmar
Powar
Pawar
SS Pandey
S Pitre

That's 12 players there. Pick the best XI, arrange them in a batting order, and you have a decent side.

@Sohum - Sangram Singh, Parvinder Singh, Sarandeep Singh, Pankaj Singh, Gagandeep Singh. First two are bats, the remaining bowl.

EDIT: Found an XIth Singh!!

Charanjit Singh - young offie.

Now we have an XI! :D

Oooh, and a 12th man:

Gajendra Singh - SLA bowler.

And 8 more:

Tarjinder Singh: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2008/content/player/231043.html
Swapnil Singh: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2008/content/player/232292.html
Sunny Singh: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2008/content/player/35282.html
Amit Singh: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2008/content/player/26789.html
Sandeep Singh: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2008/content/player/34063.html
Ian Dev Singh: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2008/content/player/279566.html
Aditya Pratap Singh: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2008/content/player/34825.html
Sarabjit Singh: http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2008/content/player/33840.html

Sarabjit is the only keeper of the lot.

So that's a 20 man squad of only Singhs who are currently playing in Domestic Cricket. And I'm pretty sure I could find a few more...

S and T are strong letters for India.

They may all be Singhs but not all of them are good players. I tried to make the Ss cause of Yuvraj, Sehwag, Rohit, and Shukla. I cannot find a wicketkeeper or another batsman though. 6 batsmen, 5 bowlers too though hmmm.

Yuvi, Sangram, Parvinder, Yashpal. 4 batsmen. Bhajji and Sarandeep the spinners, RP and VRV the quicks, and Sunny the allrounder. Sarabjit the keeper. Only really lacking another batsman. And Amit/Sandeep/Pankaj/Gagandeep are all good quicks as well. Pankaj can bat too, maybe him over VRV. Ian Dev is one of the better bats of the lot, so he gets in...

Sangram
Ian Dev
Parvinder
Yuvi
Yashpal
Sunny
Sarabjit
Pankaj
Sarandeep
Bhajji
RP

An okay looking side there...

Try a side with all Ts. Off the top of my head - Tendulkar, Tiwary, Trivedi. Must be more good ones.
