It would be sad to see him go. But, I guess he must have made some plans for himself. A great umpire,respected world-wide. I do hope he stays in the game in some capacity as he would be a great asset to have around.

He's going to be a sort of coach for umpires.

Btw, how does one become a cricket umpire ? I know that the applicants need to appear for some sort of exam. But, how exactly to go about it ?

Well thats rude. Simon was the best umpire around but never mind he will still be around coaching the new umpires. Hopefully things would get better and umpiring standards increase.

Appoligies if it sounded rude but its a umpire discussion. Things get messy. DOn't mind if they make errors but some seem to make errors in critical matches. Wonder who from Pakistan just love Simon Tauffel? When in doubt not out. When are you not in doubt? Bowler appeals raise the finger. Thinking about it is in doubt. What makes it so hard? Plus you have a square leg umpire to ask HOW FAR WAS THE GUY FORWARD?
