Test Squad for the tour of England 2008

Cricket South Africa has announced the squad for the tour of England. Following squad will play Tour matches and Test matches.

Mickey Arthur, the coach, is happy with the selection of team. He told, "This is perfect combination of team including Youth and Seniors." He also mentioned in favor of Youth Players, "From last years, we have got some young talented players in National Squad and they are performing well. This is the good sign for the Cricket South Africa. I think the future is bright."

The captain, Graeme Smith, is also happy. He is very eager about this tour. He explained, "I have played lots of in England and I know it has been always challenging for any player. Our team has many experienced players and young players." When Smith was asked to score one more world breaking partnership with McKenzie, he smiled and replied, "I think that was the day for both of us. I am not saying that was miracle but it is hard specially when you are playing against such a strong team England at their home grounds."

This is the start of the tour of England for South Africa. Today they have 4 days practice match against Somerset. Somerset have strong batting and bowling line up. Somerset's captain is Australian former Opener Justin Langer. Trescothick, Blackwell and Caddick are the international experienced players.

So we hope a good match here. Here is the team for the both sides. Gibbs failed to make his place in the team due to his bad form and AB.deVilliers will replace him. M.Morkel is also in the squad for the tour match.

The pitch is hard and fast. It is good for the batsman for the first 2-3 days. There is no doubt that fast bowlers will make troubles for the top order batsmen but this is the pitch where both captains want to bat first.

The toss won by Langer and he decided to bat first. Smith was also wanted to bat first but he is not disappointed because South Africa have good pace attack and can take wickets on any pitch.

Opening pair of the Somerset was blasting. They were playing like T20 match and added 49 runs in just 5 overs. Before Edwards was bowled by Dale Steyn, he scored 19 runs from 17 balls with 1 four. He was very confident but on this fast track he mistimed the fast yorker from Steyn and got out.

Then Hildreth joined the party with Trescothick but he was aware that he need to stay on the pitch but his defense was not enough to save him from the Morkel. He was caught at 2nd slip in the hands of Andre Nel. He scored 14 from 31 balls.

Mean while Trescothick completed his half-century in just 57 balls with 3 fours. He was looking very strong and confident to get a ton. He was batting strokes were attractive.

After completing his half-century, he was playing safe game. But Makhaya Ntini was on fire and got superb yorker to get the bails off. Trescothick was not believing that he loss his wicket this way. But he had to depart after scoring 53 runs from 68 balls.

At the lunch time, Somerset were 173/3 in 28 overs. J.Langer is playing on 35 from 44 balls while de Bruyn is 17 from 8 balls. Somerset looking to score more runs while South Africa looking to take quick wickets after lunch. We will see that after the lunch ends.
