Speed Guns?

I'm going to guess here that they went with some new company to run the speed guns that doesn't really know what they were doing. It's practically taken for granted nowadays, almost every televised cricket match of any type that I have ever seen has had them, yet here they haven't worked at any of the venues thus far except for part of the first day.

They didn't have them for the australia game and I really wanted to see how fast tait and the pakistani fast bowlers were bowling

Cricinfo said "sorry about speed infos, no 1 bowled over 160"

:laugh

I sent a fiery email about the speed guns yesterday and I am sure hundreds of others did as well.

Lets just say I took full use of the lack of a swear filter on Gmail :)

Looks like they got the speed gun displaying again. The Nannes over is being clocked.
Edit: Seems to be only on Nannes end, nothing for Tait which is the one we are more interested in.

Ye its pretty boring that no speed guns is around. I really wanted to see how fast Tait could clock it in the caribbean.

Would love to see an accurate reading of Tait's pace. This is as quick as I've seen him bowl since the T20i against Pakistan earlier in the year.

Okay finally got a reading on Tait, 146km/h for his last ball. Still not displaying them for every ball.

Tait defo bowled higher then 150-55s. Shafiul defo bowled 140-45s

It pisses me off when i dont get the right speed info. I'd rather wrong info on runs and overs..

Yeah. The game is decided by bowler speeds, not runs or overs left. :D

I assumed they had been turned off for the Afghanistan game as ESPNStar didn't want the Indian medium pace bowlers to be embarassed by the Afghanis (joke), but seriously, a world cup without speed guns?

Tbh, I think the Afghani bowlers were bowling faster :p (joke folks)
That dude that took 3 fer against SA was clocking in 140s

Tait topped at 96mph yesterday according to Cricinfo. If the game was being played in South Africa he'd probably have come close to breaking the world record with that one. Seriously quick bowling that. Steyn and Morkel weren't hanging around either. Steyn topped at 93.1 with Morkel reaching 92.7; Nannes also reached 90mph with 1 delivery, so there was some very fast bowling on show yesterday, and on a pitch that offered something to the seam bowlers it was a joy to watch. I particularly enjoyed Steyn's first spell, he was steaming in, getting some serious away movement and looked quick. Love watching that guy bowl.

Just noticed that Afghanistan's Hamid Hassan almost hit 90mph too. His quickest delivery read 89.7, putting him behind Tait, Steyn, Morkel and Nannes, but ahead of Harris, Langeveldt, Alpie Morkel, Mortaza, Shafiul, Ashraf and Shapoor Zadran (who's quickest delivery read 87.5mph). So I think Afghanistan have the potential to follow more in the footsteps of Pakistan, in terms of creating fast bowlers. If they've already got 2 guys capable of bowling genuine Fast-Medium, then in 5-10 years they could have some serious quickies playing for them. Excited to see how they develop as a cricketing nation.

If cricinfo is correct & he did hit tht pace, then you are absolutely right. Once Tait bowls in South Africa with that altitude, i fully expect him to break Akhtar's record.
