Guys , with the World cup and Champions trophy the ODI's have got good attention and now with the 20-20 world cup , 20-20 also will come up. Why don't ICC consider a Test championship where only the top 6-8 teams will participate. It might be a knock-out or a league with groups. Test cricket is the real cricket ,even if they don't find huge sponsors , it will serve the game better.

The main problem, according to the ICC is time.
They feel that scheduling these matches might be a problem.
But,i believe it can be done like the Asia-Cup was.

Well . we could have this schedule

1 year: WC
2 Year: Test Championship in two leagues League 1 top 8 teams , league 2 next 8 teams
3 year: CT
4year: 20-20

How about having a test-championship running between two-world cups wherein the teams play an equal number of matches with almost all the test playing nations.
The points can be as follows-
Say for an innings victory-10
above 500-5

While a test championship might be a good idea in principle I cant see it working as a single tournament, it would just be way to long! (If it takes a month and a half to do the world cup how long would a test championship take to complete).

The only way for it to work would be if Tours as we know them ended and instead teams played a series of matches in some sort of league system. In my opinion this would completely ruin test match cricket.

The system we have now for ranking the teams (Funnily enough called the ICC Test Championship) is probably the best solution, it may not be perfect and it may be a little hard to understand how the ranking points are worked out but it does give a pretty good representation of the rankings of teams
