Controversy for England

Flintoff carried on where he left off, and made his 50 nice and easy. A man who looks in good touch and this will please England fans that their hero is in such fine touch.

An incident occured a few overs later that has caused much controversy on the use of the Third Umpire. Collingwood going big, it appeared was caught on the boundary by Walters. It was very close to the rope and later replays showed that Walters foot was touching the rope. Walters did not admit to this and Collingwood was forced to go.

Collingwood was very unhappy with the decision.

This period of play seemed to unsettle the batsmen, and Flintoff soon perished being quickly followed by Harmison.

Phil Mustard did stage a revival with the tail, but England will be dissapointed that they did not post a bigger score.

England finished after 48.4 overs on 237 all out. It should be enough but you never know. Here are a list of the stats and figures from England's innings:

So England have finished their innings. The Middle Order saved them there. A poor start by Strauss and Vaughan, put pressure on Cook and KP. Flintoff especially should be noticed for his excellent knock. Hopefully the strong bowling attack should get England's campaign of to a positive start. Also reps to Tonka and Suren when I can for winning the poll

Yeah, it's an EA bug. I tried to make an explanation earlier, but you obviously didn't see it.

Thanks to everyone for posting. I would have updated last night, but I was in hospital (I'm allergic to wasp stings)

Thanks for posting everyone :cheers. I will update Chairman's XI innings tomorrow morning as I have an evil history essay now. I have only just started the First Test, so it might be a bit of time while I play plus make up the graphics.

I'll try and bolster it with general stuff meanwhile.

Chairman's XI make good start but falter

The Chairman's XI innings got of to a flyer. Both the openers, were very agressive in the first few overs. They especially went after Steve Harmison who was taken of after 2 overs after conceding 22 runs! The 50 partnership quickly arrived, with many of the England fans in the Perth ground beginning to look a bit concerned

Cricket20052007-09-3011-48-53-93.jpg

However. Who you gonna call? Freddie Flintoff!! It was that man again who made the breakthrough. After successfully propping up the England innings, he was brought into the attack after Anderson, Hoggard and Harmison failed, to make any headway. Straight away the batsmen struggled to play his bounce and pace mixed up with yorkers and slower balls. Eventually he got a much deserved wicket, breaking the partnership.

Cricket20052007-09-3011-52-17-03.jpg

So at the end of the powerplay overs Chairman's XI are 63/1. Morris the more agressive of the openers has gone, however Morton and Abraham are still there, and if they can build a solid partnership, they could cause a shock result here.

Cricket20052007-09-3011-56-44-70.jpg

Matthew Hoggard has been very miserly with his bowling as has James Anderson. Flintoff was the breakthrough man, and Harmison bowled very poorly and was quickly removed

Cricket20052007-09-3011-56-49-39.jpg

The worm highlights that Chairman's XI are about on par for the same total as England, crucially however they have not lost any wickets. England would ideally like to get a couple of quick ones, in the next 10 or so overs.

Cricket20052007-09-3011-56-54-90.jpg

And that is exactly what England do. Steve Harmison, after going off the field for an "injury" comes back on with renewed vigour. it is this man who makes the breakthrough, when he gets Morton to play on to his stumps. He was going on very nicely and will be dissappointed not to have made his half-century.

Cricket20052007-09-3012-53-40-01.jpg

The next dismissal is farcical. Going for a quick single, Abraham suddenly sends Wilson back, leaving him high and dry. A very easy and needless wicket condeded by Chairman's XI.

Cricket20052007-09-3013-09-06-81.jpg

So after 35 overs Chaiman's XI are 123/3 and have really fallen of the pace, due to some tight bowling.

Cricket20052007-09-3013-13-03-42.jpg

All the bowlers have bowled nicely in this spell. Harmison should be comended for coming back with such passion, and making such a crucial breakthrough. Monty has tested and probed and had a couple of chances put down.

Cricket20052007-09-3013-13-13-48.jpg

The worm just highlights how they are dropping of the pace, even though they have an extra wicket in hand.

Cricket20052007-09-3013-13-17-54.jpg

So Chairman's XI have faltered. Can the middle order repeat the sucess of the english middle order? Stay tuned to find out what happens.
