The Planet Cricket Battrick Shield V3

Naufal and I are going to be in Div 3. Thats confirmed. It will be after this season, and this shield will be done by then, right?

Most probably, cause most of us will be out in first or second week of the cup...

Yeh no problem Zorax, they have 8 weeks left and this tournament has been planned around that.

Ill be quite disapointed if I dont get in the Championship next time around after running this for a fair while

Ive been told that the Cup replaces friendlys so I would like people to indicate if they have been knocked out so I can tell when to start this tournament

Any questions im more than willing to answer

Interview with Record Breakers Manager

Welcome handsome, how are you feeling?
I am feeling extremely proud at the moment after winning the shield. It gives me immense pleasure to learn that my team has accomplished such glory after just one season.

How did you get started in Battrick?
I just wanted to know what this is all about since we have a complete sub forum dedicated to it. Once in, I had a good look at all the small tips given by the seniors as well as going through the BT Newbie guide. After some experience and some ups and downs, the process of learning still continues every week.

Everyone has a favourite player from their original squad, who is yours and what are they doing now?
I started out with pretty much an abysmal squad and just one player has survived in the team till now from the original squad. The player is Omanand Padaychie and he's an opening batsman still serving the club pretty well. He was instrumental for getting my first ever Battrick victory, a match I will never forget.

Now your victory last season came out of the blue, did you expect to win?
Well, frankly speaking it would be unfair on my team to call this victory out of the blue. True, Raiders Eleven were favourites and were supposed to win but my team is on par with the skills possessed by them.

It was at last a match between the two manager's strategies that could have gone anyways. I had my ups and down in the tournament but my team always had some very skilled players, it's just about finding the right strategy and then hope that there is no Battrick collapse.

What do you think of the new medal being introduced for the best player of the group stage?
This is a very nice concept and would surely make the group stages more fun and involving. It would be interesting to see how the points are granted and how the application is done.

Assessing your group what are your concerns?
At this moment I’m confident of moving into the finals. I am wary about some very experienced managers in my group but looking at their squad at the moment they might not possess an immediate threat. A nice group for me.

Now the other group is looking stronger who do you expect to get through?
I really can't comment at who would get through, there are some very good teams and it will be touch and go. I would put my money on Raiders Eleven to lead the group even though AP and Gamer XI look strong.

Will you be putting your title in the line after numerous requests from other competitors?
I think that there isn't a option of not putting it up for grabs, but I take it in my stride. I am and always will be the winner of the Planet Cricket Shield V2 and that will never be taken away from me as long as I live. It's just like a World Cup, some team wins and then history is created. Anyways it would be truly awesome to relive the experience again.

Who of your players do you expect to stand up and be counted for?
Tough one there, my team is still developing and maybe by the time the league starts I might have a couple of other names besides the likes of Tim Whitehouse and Owen Carrenger to carry the mantle of my team.

Do you have a Battrick mentor?
Initially up until around the last few weeks of the season, I never had a mentor but of late I do have one. I won't mention him but he's very handy.

What would your tip be to any new Battrick player in the shield at the moment?
Planning. This is very important in Battrick, you should have some plans in your mind as to how your team will progress through a season. Chalk out strategies according to your plan and more importantly read as much as you can about experiences from experienced managers. A mentor at the very start can help if you want to get into a good position but if you really want to enjoy the game and learn you will be better off without one.

Thanks for spending time with us today
My pleasure.

_____________

So the title will be on the line, exciting news for one World Champions who will want revenge for last seasons effort and everyone else is expected to put extra effort into their games with more on the line.

The fixtures will be released each week on a Monday so there is no advantage to any team but I would advise you to prepare for the opposition you know are in your group

As always remember ask questions or make suggestions anytime, as I am more than willing to answer questions or work with new ideas.

Coach Hooper: Handsome will be lucky to win this one

Today Coach Hooper laughed at the recent comments made by handsome regarding his chances in the upcoming Battrick Shield.

Last season handsome took out the title in a fairytale victory as he came in as the underdog. Earlier today coach handsome had this to say,

"Last time around i reached the second round of the cup, this time will be no different."

Hooper believes that he shouldn't be so confident as he has some good challengers in his group - and he shouldn't take his team lightly, the St Michele Cricket Club.

"Handsome has a good team, he is pretty confident, however if he does decide to rest star players like Tim Whitehouse, it could cost him in the group stages. My advice is not to take teams like mine lightly".

When the fixtures are announced and the Record Breakers and St Michele CC are drawn against each other, you should expect a fiery encounter after Coach Hooper's words of warning.

Regarding Jazs issue: I think this tourney will be over before the league starts :p

Thank you to Hooper for ruining this thread... lol

Can everyone please indicate when they have been eliminated from the Cup

Regarding Jazs issue: I think this tourney will be over before the league starts :p

If this is the case we will double the fixtures so that if Team A played Team B first round once the original fixtures have been completed and we can still fit the tournament in Team B will play Team A

*Note: Home team is always first in the fixture
