The Real IPL
As a part of its plan to encourage the ICC to grant Full Member status to cricketers on the Emerald Isle, Cricket Ireland has announced a six-team Premier League. Sharing a set of initials with the world's most illustrious cricket league may set some minds racing to high-flying conclusions, but the league executives are clear in their message.
"This is a league to develop cricket in Ireland," says Warren Deutrom, "And to do so we have condensed the format into the sunniest and warmest two weeks of the season. It also means that many of our best players will be able to take time out from their county schedules to play in the Real IPL."

Each team will have a squad of 15 players, ten of them Irish and five overseas players from around the world. There are further specifications: each squad must have a minimum of one Under-19 Irishman, no more than one "retired player" and no more than one "overseas local".
