The Victorian Bushfires

Damn, those pictures look as if a nuke had dropped.

RIP, very scary and very sad.

That's what was being said about some towns. Some towns are non-existent now.

If they catch the people that re-light them they will be charged with murder I heard people saying on the news.

Isn't this irony - Queensland has had 33 days straight of rain ( or 13, it was just on the news and I didn't hear properly) and are in flooding, and Victoria has had extreme heat and bushfires. Wouldn't it be the other way around?

I cant believe the death toll has soared over 100. They are saying it's going to double that by the end, when they search everything.

Yeah I reckon. When I first saw the original death toll I wasn't as upset because the loss of house was around 700 and deaths at around 60 which isn't a bad strike rate but it just keeps rising :(

Why? Queensland is full of tropical rainforests.

Jesus, Stevo, those pics  Is your house safe? Such a horrible way to go as well, must be horrific to be burnt alive. Hope the sick things that restarted all these fires get caught and locked away for a very long time.

Yeh the houses in my town are all safe. We only had big grass fires, nothing like the huge bush fires about 30-50km away. The first photo is on a road connecting from my town and to a town which has been flattened. It was actually taken in the evening but there is so much black smoke around it feels like its in the middle of the night.

True, but Victoria is down south so closer to Antarctica and Queensland is usually a hot place I would imagine.
It is hotter than in Victoria but because of all the tropical conditions it's not the same, they get a lot more rain. Victoria's bush is a lot dryer.

This is very sad stuff indeed, I am lucky to live in a suburb not too far from the city but I have been to Marysville on holiday before so it is terrible to hear that the town and many others have been completely destroyed. This is the worst disaster in Australian history, when you combine extreme heat with gusting winds and the bush, this is the unfortunate result. I wish relief onto all those who have experienced loss of person, possession or property. Let's hope this can all end soon, because Saturday is a day no Australian will ever forget.

Mate that's nothing compared to some of the pictures in the net. Pictures of cars that have crashed and melted. Absolutely devastating.

Victoria's killer fires | Herald Sun

I heard that Gordon Brown has offered to send over some help, but I'm not sure what Rudd said.

Rudd has been hit real hard by this. Broke down on tv this morning. The premier broke down yesterday as well.

There is, yes. It is certainly on the national news and it was even on the local Norfolk news this morning. They were talking to a woman on local radio who used to live here but moved to Melbourne many years ago.

Death toll creeping up to 200 the retards who re lit the fires have been convicted of mass murder as they should do.
RIP to all who lost their lives.

Just wanted to say I sympathize with those who lost love one in such a sad and sorry disaster, and to the country on a whole and the members of PC, such a thing should not happen, but it did, picking up will be hard and most difficult, but I do hope with God's help and prayers everyone affected will move on.
In such a time words sometimes can do very little to comfort, but at times that is all we have to offer.
May those who lost their lives RIP. Very sad indeed this is.
