The way Clarke is going, he would be better off becoming a Test only player. Hilfenhaus should also be in the same boat.

The only value you get from Clarke in the IPL would be his marketing value as he won't give you much on the field apart from in the fielding.

The only reason i would like to have Clarke in T20 formats and ODI becasue of his fielding. He has gone too slow these days :facepalm

Wait guys.... I reckon if Clarke played in the IPL he's more likely to bat the way he used to in Limited Overs Cricket.

I reckon the reason he bats more slowly now is to show maturity and responsibility as a player, with the extra tags of being Vice Captain and the future skipper.

But in the IPL, this wouldn't be evident.

Clarke seems to be the shadow of the Clarke he used to be a few years back. He is injured half of the time and when he is not, he is busy trying to get injured :facepalm

India have done this pretty well. The LOI and Test units are quite different, especially batting wise. This was more evident before the Ganguly and Kumble retirements.

Only Dravid and Laxman are the new guys in test cricket. All others are part of the ODI side (Zaheer is coming off an injury, or else he is also part of all three formats). We need more than just two players who are specialists for test cricket.

I'm sure he will do a Hayden and hit a second purple patch, don't think he can do a career best like Hayden did because Hussey set his career high, too high.
