Boy finds snake in cereal packet

LONDON (Reuters) - A boy tucking into his breakfast had a nasty surprise when he discovered a two-foot long snake inside his packet of cereal.

Jordan Willett, 5, thought he had found a toy when the serpent -- a harmless corn snake -- slithered out of the packet of "Golden Puffs" his parents had bought from discount store Netto in Telford.

"It was quite long and popped its head up. I've seen snakes on TV before but never in a box of cereal," he told the Daily Mail newspaper.

Netto said on Wednesday it was talking to its suppliers to review procedures and check on its stock.

"This does seem to be a bizarre incident but we are treating it seriously," said Netto trading director Clive Cooper.

Corn snakes, which feed on mice and birds, are commonly kept as pets around the world.

You hear a lot of these stories, usually in the USA, but yet hardly any of them actually sue the company, in most cases because they've made the story up.

How exactly would it get in there? He should have sold the snake, sued the company, pushed for the ban of all such snakes......he'd have a fat profit if it all turned out right.lol

Ban on snakes? What are you talking about? It must have got in during the packing procedure since cereal is probably mass-produced in factories. So there may have been snakes in the factory which could easily have gotten into the production line somewhere. Easily, if the factory was not well-regulated that is.

Lol, can you imagine, waking up erly for school, half asleep to find a snake nesting in your breakfast! Although there is 50% chance they made it u[

I found this article in the Yahoo! News section. It also says it was reported in the Daily Mail. There is a chance that this is fake, but I think that the boy's parents would have taken big action if this was true. Although it did happen in London... :p

I saw it on 5 news, pretty sure its true

Andrew Nixon. In America hf it happens something like that just like the skateborder post they will immediately sue the company or whoever. They don't just sit and do nothing. I've seen many cases in USA which have gotten some stuff into the package just similar to the skateborder posts. They just sue the company and ban the product or the company for the limit time.

Except 90% of them never sue the company. And most of those that do, lose the case.

Everyone in America sues each other!! A guy sued McDonalds for making him fat...A guy sued another a few days after 9/11 for looking at him funny!

Of Course its debaitible whether these are true!

In India they've found a lizard in a bottle of Pepsi.
newspaper The Hindu had the picture some 2 years back.

I remember the one in the UK when a woman found a dead tarantula in here exotic salad!
