What do people think about thenew Twenty 20 compertition in England. Basically there is a north, south and midlands leagues consisting of 6 counties with the top 2 from each group and another 1 team going through to quarter/semi/final. The matches are 20 overs for each side and all start at about 5:30pm...the aim of compertion is to get more young people into the sport.

What are your views on this...I think that it could work, the 5:30 starts seem useful as people can go after work but I notice the prices are only ?3 less than National League Cricket matches (?13 to ?10) at Lancashire for less than half the max number of overs possible.

There is aperently going to be live music and entertainment at the matches with bouncy castles and Sky Sports will have helmet cams and the players mic-ed up....which sounds interesting!

More info inc. about a football style bench to get the batsman out into the middle quicker can be seen at http://statserver.cricket.org/link_to_data...EGULATIONS.html

 I was thinking about that. What a strange coincedence.

To me it looks a load of bells and whistles, very much like EA Sports infact :D

I would be interested to see if any of them can top Rangeela's record breaking score in 20 overs - 395 I think is his personal best. I can just see it now, Wasim Akram cracking six after six for Hampshire B) :D

Thanks
sonic

I think it's quite a good idea; not for the cricket purists though.
Anything to increase the popularity of the sport and get more kids going to games can't be bad. We'll have to see how it pans out...
