Instead of polluting the group threads with discussion on commentary teams in the T20 world cup, I thought I would start a new one here where we can talk about the quality of telecast by ESPN here.

Here are the list of commentators to the best of my knowledge so far:

Harsha Bhogle
Ravi Shastri
Sunil Gavaskar
Alan Wilkins
David Lloyd
Ian Chappell
Donna Symonds
Danny Morrison
Rameez Raja
Aamir Sohail
Ian Bishop
Pommie Mbangwa
Nasser Hussain
Kepler Wessels
Michael Slater
Tony Cozier
Athar Ali Khan
Graham Gooch
Ranjit Fernando

(some other South African commentators whose names I don't know)

Does anybody have a full list of tv commentators somewhere?

One thing I am annoyed about the telecast is that ESPN shows advertisements between wickets and because the break is shorter, we usually miss one ball after the new batsman comes to the wicket.

Very poor and very unlike ESPN to do this.

Good idea.

We got the same problem for ad's between overs, well we did for the NZ KENYA match. There wern't many ad's in the opening game though.

As far as the coverage goes, seems good. The commentators are again a pretty average pick. They needed to pick more people with enthusiasm. Good at calling those exciting games.

Bumble is awesome. I like Danny as well, maybe it's partly coz he's a Kiwi though. He's at least entertaining.

I wonder where Tony Greig is. He's the one who usually comes down to these kind of events. Maybe ESPN doesn't like him?

Not that I miss him or that he's really great, but I would prefer him over a lot of the current commentators.

shashtri is quite good IMO ! neither excellent nor poor....his english is good
and has the experience too :)

harsha - Just One word = LOUD !

Gavaskar is slower than a snail :p
as harishankar said, the T20 would finish by the time he completes
a sentence.

Ian chappell - Egoistic SOB ! thats it ! :mad

David Lloyd - THE BEST in the current lot :D

Michael Holding / Ian Bishop - i'd take them anyday as i like the
west indian accent ;)

Rameez Raja - i would the same thing i did for shashtri.
good english and knows his stuff. needs a haircut though :p

Aamir Sohail - Poor English. The poorest of the lot. although
anyday better than Ian Chappell ! :boxing

anyways....has anyone heard the REAL INDIAN commentators ?? the
ones who appear on the Doordarshan Broadcast ! people like
Atul Wason, Anshuman Gaekwad, Gurpreet Singh, Nayan Mongia ,
Mohinder Amarnath , Anjum chopra etc....... OMG !! they are the WORST in
the world. plus, that FOURTH UMPIRE show really gets into my nerves !!

Can anybody tell me the names of the South African commentators? I will add more commentators to the first post in order to build a complete list.

Is Daryll Cullinan doing any commentary? He's my favourite. I love his sing-song voice.

I don't think so. The South African commentator I heard during the opening match was loud and over-excited.

I think he did commentary in the Zimbabwe vs South Africa series.

That woman commentator is crap. Doesn't speak well and points out the obvious.

Donna Simmonds still seems to be learning the job and what cricket is all about. She shouldn't be signed up for big events. Unfortunately she has been chosen. She did commentary even in the 50 over World Cup.

A commentator you have forgotten to add to the list is Pommie Mbangwa from Zimbabwe.

The tournament is being shown in the UK by Sky Sports, and I think the coverage has been fairly good to be honest.

The on-screen graphics are clear and fresh, they have not been overdone like they were at the World Cup and they tell me everything I want to know.

The audio could, perhaps, be better. The commentary sounds muffled at times and the music on the ground is louder than it at points. Yesterday in the live interviews the speech was out of sync with the movement of their mouths.

ISn't the coverage the same in the UK as everywhere else Lee? Nasser Hussain was commentating yesterday iirc. Bumble is god.

Yep, I think the coverage is produced under an ICC contract or by the host broadcaster and then sold to countries around the world.

Nasser Hussain was commentating on the Australia vs Zimbabwe match yesterday because it is in the same group as England.
