Hi read a really nice article on cricinfo this evening. Here is a summary from it.

There are two Yuvrajs. The confident one that turns up for ODIs and the imposter that stutters out for the Tests. And even in ODIs where the ball does something, surprisingly, the same mistakes still persist. Unlike Rahul Dravid, he doesn't move forward quickly towards the ball. Unlike Virender Sehwag, he doesn't stay still and wait for the ball to come. Mostly, he is caught in between those two approaches. The right foot stutters out, he misreads the length or picks the length late, the back foot gets stuck on the leg stump line and the front leg swivels towards leg stump to maintain balance. The bat is already pressing down from the high back lift and he has almost no option but to chase the ball, away from the body. It happened in the tri-series final in Mirpur. It has happened on numerous occasions on seaming tracks. And one is yet to start talking about his much-publicised troubles against quality spin. However, just when you think he is in a real peril, Yuvraj surprises you with a charming innings, like it happened in Bangalore against Pakistan, and against England in Chennai. On such days, everything looks imperious - the high back lift, the astonishingly clean swing of the bat, the gorgeous sense of timing and the sheer audacity to pull of breathtaking shots just makes you gasp. Then, very quickly, the imposter returns. Who will turn up in Mirpur?

Two Yuvraj

I think he should let his instincts and natural game go crazy in tests too like he does in ODI's and T20. Not many Aggressive players succeed in Test matches if they curb their game. What you think guys?? Should he go Sehwag, Jayasurya way or try become Sachin(impossible)

UV needs to spend more time on the pitch and it will rain sixes..

His ODI self can go back home. Time to drop this tosser from test match cricket for good.

Thats the main problem. We just can't drop him. He is such a huge talent. Moreover, whenever we think he is in poor form he play some of those magnificent innings like 2 centuries against pakistan. Both under conditions where india was in trouble with 4 or 5 down with not so many runs. Then again his two 80+ scores against England...

Yuvraj can hit those big shots, but in test matches sometimes or the other, he is going to be gobbled up by the opposition if he tries to do that. And if he tries to graft, he will again eventually be gobbled up before he goes on to do something credible. In short, he is JUST NOT CUT OUT FOR TEST CRICKET! Even in ODI's these days, he lets his star power do all the talking (party animal, etc). He has put on weight, his fielding has fallen by the wayside (he used to be a beast of a fielder).

Time for another major dropping of Yuvraj so that he can go out and sort his attitude and comeback clean. First of all, he SHOULD GET MARRIED! The guy just does too many dirty things. In India, marriage sort of binds you down. He needs it now. He is just like another Salman Khan (the Bollywood casanova). Bring in Badrinath or Kohli or whoever and just drop Yuvraj from atleast the tests.

I can't wait till he goes overseas and scores in binary numbers again. :happy

YUVI KING OF T20. KING OF SIXERS :happy

Says the guy who said Karthik could walk into the national side with his batting ability alone. :sarcasm

I never said he could walk into the team. I simply appreciate his talent, I don't expect him to get selected for every match. :sarcasm

Yuvraj, on the other hand, has totally let go of himself. He's gained weight, his fielding has gone down the toilet, and when he puts on the whites he looks shaky and unnerved every time. He plays well at home against bowlers used to getting help from conditions (England, etc) but put him out of his comfort zone and he's a waste.

There are all these youngsters who arent getting any younger in domestic cricket who are trying to break into the playing XI. Yuvraj is occupying a slot and to stay in the team he needs to perform. He isn't doing that and we need to put someone more worthy in the team.

But why are you worried anyways? Yuvraj's biggest backer is MSD. Him and Bhajji (who seems to have Sachin's support) have nothing to worry about. Even though there are dozens of players who are probably better players they will stay in the team because of the people behind them.

India would be much better off having someone like Badrinath for Yuvraj. It really doesn't make sense why he hasn't been picked. What more must the guy do? At least give him a chance. Yuvraj clearly doesn't have the temperament for Test Cricket and he still gets the nod.
