Powell to become first Welsh captain and first squad announcement​

It was announced that 29 year old Glamorgan batsman, Michael Powell, was to become the captain of the first evr Wales team, his first job captaining the Dragons for a 3 mtach ODI tour of Bangladesh. Also with this announcement was the the announcement of the Welsh squad for that tour, consisting of all but one, of Glamorgan players. However the squad at the moment will have to do without the stars of Simon and Geriant Jones, as they are unable to play for Wales, and play for England, until Wales get offical recognition as a Test nation on 1st May.

Powell: "It is a real honour for me as a Welshman to be captain of my country, indeed the first, and I hope my experiance at Glamorgan and the guidance of Matty, that I will have real success. We are under no illusions how tough the Bangladesh first tour will be, but we hope we can come away with experiance and hopefully a good result. It is a blow that Simon and Geriant can't join up yet, but I feel our current team can cope well in th meanwhile, and then earn more success with them when they can join up."​

Wales ODI Kit Launch​

Simon Jones helped launch the first Wales ODI kit today, which they will first wear for their tour to Bangladesh in a few weeks time, ironically one Simon won't be on. The kit hs been made and designed by new sportswear company, Foro Sports. The main sponsors are Brains Beer and the kit incorporates the three main colours of Wales, red, white, and green, and this will be Wales' ODI kit from 07-09​
