i was listening to ABC radio and they were talking to Trevor Hohns (aussie selector) and they were discussing about the post 2007 stage and the farewell to all the players and the ABC radio crew asked if Warne and Langer was out of the question for the 2007 World Cup, Langer has been wanting to play ODI cricket all his career and he didnt have a very bad one, Just pushed out by Gilly a superstar and he came in when he had to have a slog, And Warne wanted to have a farewell in the 2003 World Cup but he couldn't because of the drug diet ban or what have you, Do guys think that Warne or Langer / Both will be in the squad for the 2007 World Cup? :cheers

If they are going to be selected, they should surely be integrated now (especially Warnie). I don't think Australia will stoop to that level--and prevent the development of their outfit--just to give a decent farewell to their current crop of players. Their objective is to complete a hat-trick of World Cups and I think they will select their best side. I'm not sure Warnie and Langer will be in the best ODI side, simply given their lack of experience. Again, if they have any doubts about it, they should simply give the two a run in a few ODI games (against decent opposition). Maybe the Champions Trophy?-- but that could be too late.

I would definitely like to see Warne there, as he is still true class in the department of spin bowling. Dont know if he can dig something out on those Caribbean pitches but we all know he can produce a lot out of nothing. As far as Langer is concerned, I am not sure if he can adapt and find a place in the ODI side because of the large number of allrounders that ODI cricket demands now a days. The Aussie ODI side is full with class batsmen and he could well be an option regarding the sub thing, but its yet to be decided if he can jump ahead of all these good allrounders that Australia have.

" warne " i think its good idea to pick him up instead of Hogg however he is a good player too.

Both are great players.Warne is a legend of course. I would love to see both of them but truth is Aus selectors are not going to select any of them. Aus have lots and lots of talent sitting on the bench.I doubt really.

Wane: nah, i feel he's like kumble, destructive, but can't do much in ten overs. Didn't he retire from ODI's?? I feel he won't come back.

Langer: definatly. Instead of experimenting with symo ect at the top, why not have a specialist opener?!?!

They never have experimented with Symonds at the top of the order and haven't experimented lately as well.

Don't think Langer will return to the ODI stage as he is too old at the moment and would rather give a younger opening batsman such as Jaques or even Lloyd Mash who plays for Victoria. If Warne returns back to the ODI stage than it will stop the promising young talent of Cullen, Casson and even Hauritz to enter the team. So I think Warne shouldn't return to ODI cricket and stick with test matches only.

Warney will be playing in the World cup but i rekon that langer would retire after the next Australian summer series against England or he might even before that with all the injuries he's had this season and also i think he said a couple seasons ago that he was proberly never going to play international ondayers again :o

It isnt his debut, His played a few matches for Australia as Wicketkeeper and just was pushed out by gilchrist!, I got a feeling that its not out of the question for both of them, And Ponting said that he wants to go to the 2007 world cup with the "same bunch of people" Jaques,Cullen,Casson will have many worldcups ahead of them!

I had once thought Warne retired from ODI cricket.

Warne retired from ODI's, but the World Cup is a special occasion. I wouldn't mind seeing both Langer and Warne playing in the World Cup. Would be a good partnership in the ODI's with Langer and Hayden.
