What's up with Call of Duty 2?

I've just reinstalled it (I watched 'Saving Private Ryan' again recently and it made me want to play CoD2 again), but something weird is happening. In the training mission, when you get to the potato grenade throwing bit, something isn't working. No matter which order I try it in, when I throw the last potato on target (whether it's the bathtub, the window, or the door), the game isn't recognising it! The ****** Russian Commissar just keeps saying 'aim for the target, Vasily'! So, I can't continue to the rest of the game. Anyone come across this before and if so, how did you fix it? Could it have something to do with my GFX settings (they're pretty much maxed out)?

It didn't happen before when I first bought the game, although that was with my old specs. Weird...

Ok, I've found a way past that, by chucking a spud at one of the targets before the guy tells you to. After that, the trigger for the next part of the mission activates. Now I've found that other triggers aren't working, for example in the second mission in the Russian campaign where that big building gets blown up, when it says to 'report to Lt Levonov' (I think that's what he's called), he isn't where he should be. He should be upstairs just outside the double doors and tell you to go get some explosives from the engineer downstairs, but that trigger isn't working either? I just don't get this, it's very strange.

Then check your button config this could help. by the way COD2 is one of the best military shooters isn't it.

Yes, CoD2 is a great game. How would you edit the button config?

I get this error message before running the game, is this why it's acting strangely? It mentions this file:

MSVCR80.dll

and asks to ensure that it is installed.

Any idea what that's on about?

By the way, is it possible to convert Clipboard images into .bmp or jpeg, so I can post them here?

Ok, it seems to be sorted now.... It appears it had an issue with Windows Defender. I uninstalled both CoD2 and Windows Defender and reinstalled the game to see if it was ok and it was so I reinstalled Windows Defender. Everything seems ok now!

If you encounter any errors running the game always try turning off your Antivirus or Security softwares
