I agree with a Pom (you) on Murli have a far superior ability to extract spin. We Aussies are blooody great I know , but got to give respect where its due.

neway....i still think murali is a lesser spinner of the ball but spins it with much more technique and consistency.

I don't think Murali spins more because of his stats. I think he spins it more because he does. Macgill may have the odd ball that spins more, but any spinner can turn it miles occasionally, I mean I once picthed a ball half a metre outside off stump and had it go for a leg side wide.

Justin Ontong (if he spins it a lot) is a good example of how being able to spin a lot does not automatically mean you are a good bowler. He only bowled two overs in his only test, taking no wicket. In ODIs he has taken 7 wickets at 49.28, in first class cricket he has taken 54 at 40.7 and in all one day cricket he has taken 35 at 39.97. Those sort of stats aren't that impressive and his batting is even worse.

As I've said, I can spin it loads some times, but I couldn't play for England! But then again......

It's Murali from me!

First of all during the VB series
1. He just overcame an injury
2. He now really controls the amount of spin esp for one dayers

Since if he spins it as much as he can he gets "wided" :o

Murali can spin it square.........anyone who's seen him at nets would tell u...........and on his first tour to England he showed some journalists as well how much he can spin it..........

Another thing is that it's much easier to get alot of spin in Leg Spin than in Off Spin.....

hey mcgill gets lots of wides by spinning the ball tooo much, and btw i reckon it is easie to spin off spin more and it's easier to place the ball in the right place!! :o hey dtrulez r u english?

I think it is easier to get spin with finger spin because it is a much easier action. But with wrist spin you can spin it a lot more once you get a good action going.

hey nixon..i totally agree wit u....

when u finger spin - ur arm action goes straight like bowling a pace bowl however u just twitch ur finger at the end

when u wrist spin - ur whole wrist flicks the ball so this is hard to get going and consisting of accurate bowls - however when done properly...can b very trick 2 play..
