Well i was starting to practise my Keeping skills this year and started to become pretty solid and good , but then people started critizing my lenght of being too tall , just a question to the cricket experts out there , do i have to be short to keep , is tallness really going to effect my keeping skills ??????

No, but in the same sense yes.

How tall are you?

Thing is, shortness is what wicketkeepers are these days. You'll not find and overly tall one.

Your skills can keep getting better as long as your crouch, hand and eye coordination is good. Don't be put off by your hight, means you can dive greater distances for "wonder-catches," also!

well i don't know my height but im gonna measure myself right now and let you guys now.

He's about 6"1. Gilchrist is a little taller than you'd expect, but i suppose he isn't no fast bowler thats 6"5.

Rubbish.

It only matters if your heightness restricts your keeping. It matters not how tall a keeper is, it matters how good he is. Gilchrist is very tall, yet he's very good, so it doesn't matter.

I dont find Gilly tall. But in past there have been tall keepers. I can remember from black and white clips. Farookh Engineer was huge wicketkeeper.

I think if you were peter Crouch you might struggle :p but it doesn't really matter if you are about 6"2/3. Especially at your level you want to concentate on the basics of keeping before worrying about minor issues like height, dive length's etc. I love getting measured to see how far I can dive. Any excuse to throw myself around :p

I'd think being tall would help.
Sure, you can't crouch as far down as the shorter keeps, but you can extend yourself to a greater height.

I don't think keeping has to do something with Hight..people believing that Small hight is good for keeping because that easy to take glance for keeping(to sit and stand)..
But Gilly was pure example that Even taller keeper can do best in the world..

I'm 5'11 and a keeper. So I'm fairly tall considering I'm more 6 foot than I am 5'11. It is a bit tougher being tall. You're obviously at a disadvantage to anything that gets edged low but as long as you have a good stance with you knees bent and your thigh in a straight line instead of hanging below your arse, you should be.

It only makes you slightly more succeseptable to back injury.

people criticize you because tall lanky kind of guys arent the best in agility or flexibility. unlike medium to short who more agile and flexible. :crying like me im a lanky *******

I agree with most people here. Gilly is quite tall and he obviously revolutionized the role of wicket keeper batsmen. Height is not a problem. Just keep practicing a enjoy your Wicket Keeping.

Ya as far as Injury is concerned Its depend more on your weight then your hight..If wicket keeper with small hight can have chance of more back injury then tall and slim keeper..
