Windows Defender beta 2

I just saw on Ms website, Windows Defender beta 2. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Is it worth downloading? Also what is the difference between this and the AntiSpyware program.

aussie1st it was out quite long ago. I think I downloaded Defender around 2 months back. It is better than Antispyware in many aspects but it is still not as good as Lavasoft Adware SE.

One of my friends computer is already affected with Spyware/Adware.Is this capable of removing it or just preventing it?

Oh ok, it was the last thing on Microsoft site so I just assumed. I was never looking to replace Adware, more I was looking to have them both do scans. Thats what I've been doing with Antispyware and Adware.

Yes you can give it a try but i'll recommend you to use Adware SE.

Even i am using both(Adware SE & Windows Defender) for my scans. I suggest you download Defender too as it is worth a try.

Its Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

As long as you go in safe mode I don't see why.
Tap F8 when your computer is booting up and pick enter safe mode and scan in that.
But it will not find all his malware

Finally got Windows Defender installed. The new icon looks pretty cool, I was getting bored of the Antispyware one. Haven't seen it do anything yet but I'm sure it will sometime in the near future.

I use it aswell...It's okay I guess..Don't you need SP2 to use it?
