Windows Media Encoder 9 Problems

i have windows media encoder 9 but it keeps freezing when i select the video card.
does anyone have any ideas if there is another program which i can use instead of windows media encoder 9?
it freezes when i click on apply or anything in properties,
it doesnt even show the preview of my video card.

i've had problems with media encoder 9 from the start

Depending on what you are trying to do, have a look here -

I have tested and implemented the top one in a commercial environment, works like a charm although fairly low video quality.
P.S. both solutions are free and less taxing on resources than WM Encoder.
