Political unrest hits North Korea. The citizens of the country have united and gathered together on the streets of the country's capital city, Pyongyang. They demand the current government to give up their power and make way for a new democratic system. The government in power has strongly retaliated to their demands and refused to back out whatsoever.

With regards to the nation's cricketing body, Democratic Republic of Korea Cricket Corporation, its head quarters which are also located in Pyongyang was trespassed and vandalized by the fellow protesters. Multiple instances of damage to property were witnessed. Few officials were seen rushing to the hospital while others suffered minor injuries.

The government has hence decided to disband DKCC and it's operations until further notice.

It has also been clarified that the national team will continue to play the matches which are already scheduled in 2001. While the matches to be played in North Korea for the following year will be played under closed doors and the touring teams will be given top notch security as promised by the govenment.

Though come 2002, DKCC and the North Korean national team will cease to take part in any cricketing affairs until the political unrest is normalized.

Controversy Erupts: Brazil suspended mere weeks before Nations League

Brazil have been suspended from the WCC with immediate effect. WCC funding to Brazil Cricket Association has been frozen, and representative teams from Brazil will not be allowed to participate in any WCC events while under suspension, making Brazil's participation in the Nations League scheduled to begin mere weeks from today unlikely.

After several rounds of meetings in Rio de Janeiro this week, the WCC Board unanimously decided that Brazil Cricket Association was in breach of Article 2.4 (c) and (d) of the WCC Constitution, and that the actions of the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) in suspending the board in January constituted government interference in Brazil Cricket Associations' affairs.

"We do not take the decision to suspend any member lightly, but we must keep our sport free from all political interferences," WCC President Arjun Prasad Hoodbhoy said. "What has happened in Brazil is a serious breach of the WCC Constitution and we cannot allow it to continue unchecked," he further added.

Brazil's sanctioning marks the very first time a member nation, associate or Test-playing, has been suspended by the WCC.

The WCC has directed that the BCA board originally elected in mid-January be reinstated to office within three months, and progress in this respect will be considered again at the next board meeting in October. "The WCC wants cricket to continue in Brazil in accordance with the WCC Constitution," Hoodbhoy added.

Since then, Brazilian cricket has been in lockdown - and meltdown. Chairman of BCA, Emiliano da Silva and acting managing director Ricardo Carvalho, and the entire board were suspended by the SRC and Brazil Cricket Associations' offices were literally locked, with a police detail dispatched to guard the property, "to ensure that no assets or other documents, especially of a financial nature, left the premises," according to SRC chairman Cláudio Xavier.

The WCC immediately froze Brazil's funding upon the suspension of the board in January, with representative teams from Brazil not being allowed to participate in any WCC events while under suspension, rendering Brazil's participation in the upcoming Nations League incredibly unlikely.

Mozambique withdraw from 1999 WCC Nations League due to 'internal disciplinary reasons'
Cricket Mozambique suspends 11 of their 18 centrally contracted players under bizarre circumstances

Mozambique have withdrawn from the upcoming WCC Nations League, with Cricket Mozambique announcing the suspension of 11 of their 18 centrally contracted players, including their captain Kennedy Tataw - under bizarre circumstances. The majority of Mozambique's international roster has been suspended for "disciplinary reasons" and "failing to adhere to our strict codes of conduct", and as a result, has forced Mozambique to effectively withdraw from the upcoming event.

Mozambique's withdrawal from the first edition of the Nations League is yet another roadblock for WCC's ambitions of launching a World Championship-tier event for Test cricket, following Brazil's suspension from the World Cricket Conference a week ago. Arjun Prasad Hoodbhoy, the President of WCC has announced to name replacements for Mozambique and Brazil mere weeks before the tournament begins with both replacements being asked to travel with their preliminary squads to Guernsey and the United States of America on short notice.

Norway vs England

Norway basically received a bye into the next game as England had to forfeit the game due to undisclosed issues. An insider reported a deadly case of explosive diarrhea as the reason for England denying to travel to the venue on match day - but it was not officially confirmed by anyone in the English camp.

ESPNcrickintel blows up
ESPNcrickintel, who claim to be the world's first and best website dedicated to cricket news and scores, have reported an ungodly amount of traffic in the past few months. They plan to launch a new series, "Through the Gate" in which they interview cricketers and get to know them more. Stay tuned, the first episode is almost ready to launch!

During the press conference, BCB president Tajmul Hossain Bapon explained the reason for a long delay in holding the competition.

"We had tight budgetary concerns which made it difficult for us making arrangements to hold the league. We wanted to take proper arrangements, so we had to resolve all our budget issues first before we could start anything. I apologise for such a delay. BCB is trying is best to make sure more cricket is being played.

Although most are happy, some are still very dissatisfied with the announcement. They are dissatisfied with the reasoning provided for the delay and blame the BCB for actually being lazy and unproductive.

"Cricket is our most played game in the country. Why would there be budget issue. It only looks like the president is trying to hide his incompetency with these lies"

"We have to rise our standards to the global needs if we want to do well. We cannot do it as long as idiots are in charge."

"National Premier Regional ODI Competition.....What a stupid name. National and Regional are 2 separate things. Pick one dammit. And ODI means One day International. "International". Do you even knew what that word means? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to finally see some cricket. But seriously, who approved this garbage name!??"

"I do not feel like the players are being heard. It's not like they don't exist at all. They do whatever they want without scrutiny."

After being asked about these complaints, President Bapon made it clear that there is no reason for him to pay any heed to them.

"Of course no one will be fully satisfied with our decisions. But it doesn't mean we will stop making them. These complaints will go on no matter what we do. Haters will keep saying 'The name is wrong!' and things like that but they will never appreciate the effort that goes behind everything. That being said, nothing can be done about the tournament name even if people find mistakes in it. Hopefully from the next season we can resolve them."

WCC mulling relocating Knockout Trophy from France
“French Cricket Federation [FCF] failed to give a written assurance about tax exemptions for the tournament from the government of France”

Rumors have recently emerged of World Cricket Conference [WCC] potentially mulling the idea of relocating the 2002 edition of the Knockout Trophy from France after the French Cricket Federation [FCF] failed to give a written assurance about tax exemptions for the tournament from the government of France.

WCC, as a not-for-profit organization, does not pay taxes under German law where they are currently headquartered in. It is understood that when a multi-national global event such as the Knockout Trophy is awarded to host, such exemptions are also expected for the revenue of the tournament from the host country. However, FCF has so far failed in providing WCC with a written assurance from the French government and it has subsequently led to speculation within the Conference members that perhaps a new host nation will be selected for the upcoming edition of the Knockout Trophy at the annual World Cricket Conference summit early next year.

Since this hasn't happened yet, here's an explainer on how this situation was sorted.

Had to mark a non-keeper to keep because no actual wicket keeper was available. In the sim, all bowlers marked to bowl have incurred a 3-point ratings penalty for their bowling. And the non-keeper marked as a keeper has incurred a 5-point ratings penalty for their batting.
