We have planned a very important tournament that will occur once a year to promote the associate nations."

He also stated "Associate nations need some support from the test playing nations to bring up their cricketing standards. We currently have 10 Full time members, 34 Associate member's and 60 Affiliate member's. We are looking to close up the gap and have more Full Time members then associate and more Associate members then Affiliate members. But for that we need a change in cricket and change in cricketing action.

In this press conference he was asked a lot of questions on the upcoming 2011 World Cup and he was confident enough in answering questions regarding security, arrangements and other stuffs.

Question era soon shifted to Test Matches and Day Night Test matches to be played or not. But here he revealed ICC's plan to revamp the Test Matches and also gave a big shock in Banning the players who play IPL and avoid this ICC's plan.

He stated " We are glad to announce that in order to have more teams in the full members status and also to save test matches, we have come up with an Idea of World War. This cricketing series will see the end of T20's and will see the rise of Pro 30 Tournaments in ICC.This tournament will have 3 formats and 16 teams will participate. The formats will be Pro 30, 5 Day Long Test Matches and ODI's. The 16 Teams will be divided into 6 Continents team. Asia will have 2 teams representing in this tournament as they have more number of teams."

ICC also unveiled their names and continents name.

  1. Asian Fire's - Representing India,Pakistan,Srilanka & Afghanistan
  2. Asian Beast - Representing India,Pakistan,Srilanka & Bangladesh
  3. African Giants - Representing Kenya,South Africa & Zimbabwe
  4. Down Under Devils - Representing Australia & Newzealand
  5. European Eagles - Representing England,Ireland & Scotland
  6. Caribbean Tiger's - Representing West Indies,USA & Netherlands
The ICC President then said " We are hoping that Associate nations do get a chance to gain experience and people will be looking to see their favorite stars in action in these 3 exciting formats. He add this year tournament will be played in Newzealand and Australia"

ICC today announced their 6 teams, their logo and the squad. The Down Under Devils looked the most dangerous side from all the sides. These teams are going to play in 3 different formats, Pro 30 , ODI, and 5 Day Long Test Match. Scrapping Domestic T20 IPL and other T20 international's and giving more importance are set to begin new cricketing era. Promoting associate nations cannot be better then this where players like Mohammad Nabi who have just entered the international arena gets chance to share dressing room with the great's of Sachin Tendulkar others. Australia and Newzealand have not been given a Associate Nations team as there are not teams nearby the down under continents.Asia being large have been given 2 teams and Bangladesh and Afghanistan have been placed in 2 teams the Beast and Fires.

Netherlands although come under Europe but it is been placed under Caribbean Tigers. Ireland and Scotland are been placed under European Eagles alongside England. USA been placed under Caribbean Tigers which looks a weak side in Test Match format in this competition. Pro 30 & ODI they can be the best but yet in the test format their they have to work hard.

ICC also announced the 6 Captains.

Asian Fires - Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Asian Beast - Kumar Sangakkara
Down Under Devils - Daniel Vettori
African Giants -Graeme Smith
European Eagles - Paul Collingwood
Caribbean Tigers - Chris Gayle

Daniel Vettori captaining the Down Under Devils in place of Ricky Ponting is a big decision that ICC took but it was a fair decision. Ricky Ponting playing the shorter Pro 30 Tournament was in doubt and hence they took this decision.

To Be Continued

Great work, great vocabulary, great presentation and great logos.

Will hope that this will be an interesting story.
