Younis Khan back as vice-captain

I havent found the link to this story as yet,but the PCB have named Younis Khan as Shoaib Malik's deputy.
A pretty stupid decison in my opinion.They went for a person who once rejected Pak captaincy,and now they have made him the vice-captain yet again.

Atleast they could have gone back to Mohd.Yousuf.
The Salman Butt experience did'nt work out for them,seeing as the vice-captain sat out for all 5 ODI's during the recnetly concluded Pak-Sa series.
Even Mohd.Asif wouldnt have been a bad chocie.

After rejecting the captaincy twice in his career, Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has accepted the responsibility of taking over as the vice-captain for the tour of India, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced today.Younis takes over from opener Salman Butt, who held the post through the two-Test series against South Africa.

Younis had served as the vice-captain of the side for nearly two years under Inzamam-ul-Haq, and was appointed captain during the Champions Trophy in India last year in Inzamam's absence. However, he announced in a press conference that he refused to be a 'dummy captain' and walked off, only to be reinstated under a new board administration two days later.

Younis is a smart guy.But the guys in Pakistan team wont be happy if younis becomes their captain.Thats why he rejected it.He has a cool head on his shoulder.On his last tour to india he was the one who was answering all the questions by the media here very smartly.

Good Find. I always thought Younus was too soft to be a captain. He is smart but you need authoritive figures such as Imran Khan and Akram.

Those sorts of palyers never make good captains. You need a captain who is:
tough
high standards/expectations
popular with the players/well respected
not shy/frightened to experiment

I thought Afridi might have been a good captain, but I now realise that he doesn't possess a "cricketing brain". The best options for captain are:
Akhtar - i know hes not a great role model but he is smart and certainly not shy!
Asif - very smart and is liked by all the team
Mohammad Yousuf - well respected, knows the game etc

Asif is too young to be a captain.

well they are the best I can come up with from the current 11. Who would you choose from the current 11?

true. Afridi was always encouraging the whole team on the field. He was always in the bowlers ear, giving them advice and motivating them. He certainly has leadership qualities. So, make him limited overs captain and Younus/Malik test captains. I thought Malik would have been a better captain. I think Pakistan are trying to follow South Africa and Graeme Smith. SMith became captain at the age of 24/25 aswell. Look at what he's doing with South Africa.

Afridi's got very good leadership skills. He's certainly taken a mature approach in the field with increases responsibility. He can't ever really be totally guaranteed his place though, so he'd never get appointed.

Besides, Younis Khan is the best tactical mind in your team by a street and then some.

Dravid could have been the world best vice-captain.
Infact thats how the commentators referred to him.

I'd rather go for the other Shoaib in the team-Akthar.
It seems during the last Kiwi tour to Pakistan,he entered the Kiwi dressign room and told Astle that the next time they play,he[Shoaib] will be the captain.
