Yousuf Removed From ICC Test Rankings But Not ODI

I think the rules should be changed yes, at the same time I think Pakistan players should mvoe down the list if they haven't played any cricket. Might not be their fault but if they aren't playing cricket chances are their form will have deteriorated.

???

I assume you mean the Pakistani players that signed up with the ICL, otherwise its ridiculous to dock players points because no one wants to play in their country.

On topic, Yousuf should be getting docked points for missing Test matches, as he will as Pakistan play more and more Tests, but you have to laugh at the inconsistency of the ICC rankings. As Osman Samiuddin rightly said about the ICC, that its "an organisation traditionally possessed of the backbone of a jellyfish, the moral substance of a loan shark, and a collective nous less than that of the three stooges."

Oxymoron there (twice I have used that word this week :p) He chose money over the game, yet you say he should play for the IPL??? Straight away I see hypocrisy there as many people consider players choosing the IPL as "money over the game."

Hmm....oxymoron is generally used for two contradictory terms rather than two contradictory views.

No it's not. It might not be their fault but still not the point, how can a guy who hasn't played cricket for a year be seen as the best batsmen in the world. Inactivity should see you move down.

Yeah, based on your country playing tests.

It's not our fault we haven't played test cricket

Yeah it is actually. Otherwise you would have people from the 70's and 80's still there
No, they dropped in the rankings because their team played and they weren't in the side.

Thats how they came out of the rankings.

In this instance, we HAVEN'T played, so the rating remains the same.

Pakistan is a great TEAM look at they are playing after one year a test match but they playing like  Pakistan plays a great innings SPECIAL Younas khan

No, they drop out of the rankings because they retire and miss their country's Test matches. If someone hasn't missed a Test in 14 months but hasn't played any because his country didn't play any, then it makes zero sense to dock a player for it.

That doesn't reflect very well on the way the rankings are computed. Maybe they weren't expecting such a thing as that which happened to Yousuf. Because, even without docking points off Yousuf for not playing, those who are playing should have been able to get ahead of him.

Well it has been exceptional circumstances for Pakistan missing matches but I suppose when you put it like that, it is a bit stupid. Damn it, I hate having to agree with zMario :p He does so much better when ganged up on ;)

No. A team shouldn't drop down the rankings, if a team didn't play for 5 years and their star batsmen was still number 1 it would be ridiculous to say he's the best batsmen in the world.

Why should Pakistan be any different. If players aren't playing then all they would be judged on is how well they were playing a year ago which doesn't represent how good they are now.

No, the fact is that the other players couldn't catch up to him :)

Doesn't mean he is the best player now though, means that 5 years ago he was the best player and in the mean time no-one has been as good as he was at that stage 5 years ago, not now. As of now he obviously will not be the same player he was 5 years ago therefore deserves to move down.
