I have a feeling that Australian is under prepared for this tour a lot of them including Steve Smith was playing BBL like 2 weeks before, they even rejected the warm up that was to offer because it was played on a green track.

On contrary in 2017 they had a 2 week camp in Dubai played a match against India A in Mumbai at the CCI.

And the results were dividend as well they won the first test on a raging turner in Pune.

Still pretty early in the series but thats just how I feel after seeing their batters play spin in the first innings they are just too unsure about it.

Australia should simply ask Smith and Marnus to bowl a few overs. India will be all out under 200 then.

A Travis Head or a Ashton Agar or both would have been a much better choice for Australia in the track.

A track ideal for finger spinners.

Agar in for who?
Any of the extra batter Handscomb or Khawaja or Warner considering all three have not had a decent outing in India before especially on track which is offering a quite a bit for spinners.

On such tracks you should have more bowling options say Agar scoring 25 odd is way handy on compared to other batters.

Khawaja has never played in India, and he has had a brilliant last 12 months. Handscomb is a rightie which Aus desperately need. And who opens if they drop Warner? Renshaw has been batting middle order in Shield so opening with him is counterintuitive.

Vital partnership this. Need a lead of at least 100 to be safe otherwise batting last won't be easy.

Great knock by R.Sharma as well. He will be relived.

Well you gotta fit in Agar if you want an extra bowling option in place of a extra batter.

Remember Australia are playing 7 batters at the top one of the them can surely sut out to accommodate Agar , Renshaw seems more likely candidate and If Head is to fit in the playing Xl it has to be ahead of Handscomb.

Australian is lacking penetration at the other end Boland looked good but not so much threatening and Lyon yet to hit the length right so Agar or Head might have been a good option on this pitch.
