Following up on the recent success of the Champions League Twenty20, there has been a new domestic tournament following up in its place - the Club Championship. This tournament will decide the best One Day team - where the matches will consist of 50 overs per side.

The original teams of the Champions League have been scrapped with new teams entering in place from all around the world. 12 teams will compete - but only one will be victorious when the Club Championship is completed.

The final squads have been completed, the auction has finished, and it's time to get down to business. This is the Club Championship.

Northern Hurricanes

Coach: Rahulkhush

Team Colours: silver and black
Team Information: The Northern Hurricanes are the direct rivals of the Southern Sharks. The two share a fierce rivalry and a huge clash is always expected between these two teams. The Hurricanes possess a state-of-the-art stadium which is always filled in rival matches, and they are known for their grittiness and use of cheap tactics on the field.

Southern Sharks

Coach: 20/20 Pro

Team Colours: blue and yellow
Team Information: The Southern Sharks have been rivals with the Hurricanes since the beginning of the competition, and although it is the Hurricanes who come out on top more often than not the Sharks always give a good showing. Always the underdogs of big matches, the Southern Sharks have incredible spirit and never stop fighting.

Flying Falcons

Coach: Mattfb

Team Colours: red and white
Team Information: The Falcons are an extremely skilful team by nature and have found themselves around the top mid-table in their past few seasons in their previous leagues before the Championship. They are a classy, delicate team and they are not afraid of victory - always challenging any team. They have been known to struggle under pressure sometimes, but more often than not they aren't required to be in that situation anyway.

Quicksilver XI

Coach: D0N

Team Colours: silver and green
Team Information: The Quicksilver XI have been cellar dwellars for their past few seasons in non-league cricket, and have held the wooden spoon for bottom position more than any other team. They have struggled to find the right balance of players and their finances have impacted as a result, but with some helpful drafting and a good manager they could quickly find themselves on the way up.

The Scorpions

Coach: OffCutters

Team Colours: pink and yellow
Team Information: The Scorpions have held the reputation for 'Finals Chokers' for a number of years now. They have looked a strong force for the entire season until finals time when they fall to pieces - and as a result two grand finals and six preliminary finals have been lost without a single premiership to date. Despite their finals woes, they are a very strong club in the regular season and definitely are not write-offs.

Panthers United

Coach: Gazza 11

Team Colours: black and blue
Team Information: The Panthers United finished 2nd in 2004, but apart from that haven't been able to find any good form since and have hovered mostly around the bottom of the table. They haven't been as poor as the Quicksilver XI, but they just haven't been able to produce their best cricketing form. However, they have some encouraging players which might help them in the future.

Skull Tigers

Coach: Nakul

Team Colours: yellow and red
Team Information: The Skull Tigers certainly have the most threatening name but have finished in mid-table for the past few seasons. They have an extraordinary amount of talent in the squad, but some poor coaches and some poor decisions behind the scenes have really cost the Tigers. However, with a competent coach behind the Tigers they really have the potential to go places.

Alpha Crushers

Coach: Hedger14

Team Colours: teal and dark grey
Team Information: The Crushers are undoubtedly the best team in the competition. They are extremely strong on the cricket field and have been in sensational form lately, with 3 premierships in 5 years. They have a powerful batting line-up and are dynamic in the field, and they have been a nightmare to beat in the recent years. They have been destined for success and they are going in favourites to the Club Championship.

Toxic Stingrays

Coach: BKB1991

Team Colours: dark green and orange
Team Information: The Stingrays are a proud club with a lot of history, but they haven't been up the top half of the ladder for a while, spending the past two seasons down in the dirt with all sorts of troubles. The players weren't committed to the squad, the board was having financial dilemmas and nobody wanted to join the Stingrays for a while. Last year they showed signs of improvement towards the end with some encouraging performances, but they still need a lot more.

Blue Spiders

Coach: Madhur

Team Colours: navy and white
Team Information: One of the crowd favourites, the Blue Spiders have the true underdog spirit and are always determined to win. They are best in big matches, and are one of the only teams to knock off the Alpha Crushers in recent years after two thrilling victories - one by 1 wicket and the other by 3 runs. Known for their friendly temperament and cheerful banter, the Spiders love a challenge but can sometimes fall apart against the mediocre teams.

Silver Stars

Coach: Mihir Doshi

Team Colours: silver and brown
Team Information: The Silver Stars have a lot of potential in their line-up but have yet to demonstrate it - with some players finding it tough to perform for the silver and brown. The Stars haven't challenged the competition much in recent years but they are one of the richer clubs financially wise and will be hoping to build on that in the upcoming player auction.

Kamikaze Miners

Coach: Rahuldravidfan

Team Colours: red, yellow and black
Team Information: The Kamikaze Miners are very much a hit and go team, known for a powerful array of big hitters and quick bowlers. They won the Twenty20 competition earlier in the non-league thanks to some powerful batting but sometimes this can be their weakness as they collapse far too early in the 50 over matches. That said, they are still a good team and have finished in the finals for the past 3 years.

Great work, I'm delighted to see such a positive response. I'm thinking that making an auction for each player might take too long, so what would be your thoughts on the auction idea? We need to draft 12 players for 12 teams, so 144 players at 1 a day is 144 days - or 5 months, just to auction, lol. I like the auction concept but this would take way too long.

Or, I could say, put 5-10 players up for auction in one day, and then each person could bid on them (not buying them as a pack), but bid on each of them individually and at the end of the day the highest bidders would win the players..

Northern hurricanes

Flying Falcons for me

@blake
Ask binnu to include CC in COT

Hmm, tossing up between Southern Sharks and Panthers, the names of the two hockey teams I play for!

Would it be possible to change it to West(ern) Panthers?

Gazza_11 added 0 Minutes and 44 Seconds later...

ahhhh tehe :laugh
should be a good league

Midget Laugh :)

So let me get this right, some of the teams are better off than others?

Quicksilver XI will be ideal for & thanks blake for such a wonderful league & great suspense too
