Benfica and Dortmund ended up level 1-1 in a game where the two defences shined, but the attacks disappointed. Eduardo Salvio gave Benfica an 1-0 advantage with a finish through the keeper's legs. Dortmund equalised through a stunning Reus freekick from range. Both Benfica and Dortmund hit the post after Reus's goal but ultimately couldn't slot the ball in.
MOTM: Marco Reus: Scored an awesome freekick and hit the post deep into the second half.

Barcelona ground out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Spurs. A mesmerizing Arda dribble resulted in Barca getting a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute which turned out to be the only goal of the match. Barcelona attacked further, but couldn't find the second goal.
MOTM: Arda Turan: Scored a wonderful goal, and created many chances.

Juventus depended on some late Arturo Vidal magic to get them the victory against Shakhtar. After an uneventful 75 minutes, Vidal finally broke the deadlock in the 77th minute, capitalising on a goalkeeping blunder to slot it home. Carlos Tevez doubled the lead, with a mighty header off a Vidal cross which ensured that Shakhtar couldn't come back.
MOTM: Paul Pogba: The Frenchman screened his back-four in a very efficient manner, nullifying the threat of the opposition attackers.

Arsenal scored with their only shot on target to salvage a draw against Basel. Sergio Garcia opened the scoring for Arsenal with a bullet header from a Robben cross. Emenike equalised 40 minutes later, with an absolute rocket of a shot into the top corner. Basel were more threatening, but Arsenal held the majority of the possession.
MOTM: Sergio Garcia: Gave Arsenal an unlikely lead with a strong header and played the role of target man to perfection.

A substandard performance from Manchester City made Chelsea's task easier. Oscar scored right on the brink of halftime to hand Chelsea the lead, with a long range dipper. City played with an attacking approach in the second half, but were caught offside many times.
