India tour of New Zealand 2019

What do you guys think of Vijay Shankar? Coming at 5 he batted really well and has good enough technique as well to sutvive as well as anchor in innings in scenarios like today. Plus played a couple of decent knocks against NZ A few in the same country a few months ago.

Or may be Henry....

This is getting too close for comfort.

Again it was India who came on top of New Zealand today. It was a comprehensive series win for India. It was New Zealand who came out and put up a performance that was one of their best of all time against an Indian team and even today they were well on top of India but actually speaking once the 1st innings got over and the way we started I never really felt at any point that New Zealand would run away with the match. A 4-1 win in New Zealand is something worth a big achievement. Before the series there were people who were calling India as an over-rated Limited Overs side and said that India would no where come close to winning this series but they actually gave a performance that was worth appreciating and what's important was that our batsman low down the order also scored some crucial runs

Now heading towards the T20I with India missing the services Bumrah and Kohli and looking at the form of Boult I expect a tough series and if India can win that as well it would be a couple of successful Overseas tours right before the WC which would turn out to be a huge confidence booster. The best result India can get in the T20Is would be 2-1

This was a good win, which gives us a lot more confidence because it came with our backs against the wall. Vijay Shankar and Hardik Pandya were the prime constructs of this victory, with contributions from Rayudu too.

But I wonder why does the team under bowl Vijay Shankar? Almost every match, he is hugely underbowled. I was following scores on Cricinfo and Shankar was bowling very tight along with Pandya and Shankar was having figures of 3 overs for 7 runs. Then one over of his goes for 12 and that's the end of his bowling for the match. It's good to keep Pandya on his toes and Shankar looks ideal and this was a chance where both Pandya and Shankar were playing together and Shankar needs to be given a longer bowl.

Hardik Pandya was a treat to watch with the bat. India must surely be glad that he has returned and is in the thick of things for the WC. We just have to hope that he has returned back a lot wiser because he knows that India can win games without him too. There is still issues with the middle order and wonder how will it be fixed during the home ODI's against Australia.

It's not a problem IMO, come the WC we would've got Kohli in the line-up so our top 3 will have enough strength and not much wrong was done by Rayudu & DK either. We did not have our best batsman along with that we were playing a 19 year old in our line-up who hardly had faced that sort of a quality bowling attack and neither we would be playing him in the WC. While talking about DK, Rayudu, Pandya and Kedar Jadhav they've all scored runs this series so not much problem is seen over here.

Wow, we are playing 3 wicket keepers in this game LOL

Talk about Luxury

Plus 3 'all-rounders' also - Pandya brothers and Vijay Shankar

Sharma
Dhawan
Dhoni
DK
Pant
Hardik
Krunal
Vijay
Bhuvi
Chahal
Khalel

Nasser Hussian in 2007 WT20 "Dinesh Karthik is extreme , drops dollies and takes Blinders".

Still holds true.

That's two drop catches from DK now !

I hope they give Vijay Shankar a chance to bat today . He wasn't even given an over . Seems that Rohit has too much faith in his MI mate Hardik .

220 to win .. now thats going to be a massive challenge to our lineup

Especially with MSD slotted for no.3 / no.4. Also Rohit will take 5-6 deliveries up before going for hits ... so lets see.

This is interesting! A leftarm spinner and leg spinner to MS Dhoni when the required rate is already over 15.

PS - Can't really question MS now considering the rest of the order collapse and with just remaining hitter to come.

So, once again we collapsed in face of a BIG target

This is the only fear I have for the World Cup. Failure to chase big scores after our bowlers have had an off day - it could very easily happen in a knockout game. Anyways, no point getting repetitive. I hope we get such big scores in the next couple of games as well and we overcome them
