Basically the Afghan squad one would expect. Amir Hamza Hotak misses out however, as Fareed Ahmed's impressive performances can no longer be ignored. Najibullah couldn't make it either, with Rahmat Shah, the talented leg-spinning all-rounder being picked instead.

Hotak's exclusion shouldn't really matter given that we now have an abundance of spin options in Nabi, Shenwari, Shah and Sadiq. In any case, pace is Afghanistan's main strength and our attack is really strong with tall, mean fasties like Hassan, the two Zadrans, Ahmed and Dawalatzai to choose from. As I've said once before - expect no mercy from us.

That's one of the best squad selections I've seen in a very long time. Your research has thrown up some players who (despite being a very sad git) I'd never heard of, and who also appear to be far better than the geriatrics that the real selectors prefer.

The selections that impress me most are Harshun Shukla (Cricinfo has split his profile under two names for some reason) and Lalith Lal. Both look like very promising young spinners, especially seeing as their best performances came against the relative regional giants, Hong Kong and Nepal.

A spinner?! And there I was imagining him to be a young tearaway..

Anyway, I guess spinners will come in more handy than fast bowlers in Asian countries.

I was primed to put him down as the next Jeff Thomson, but then I found this

Okay, I've made the necessary changes to my post. Shukla stays.

I'm too late for this I guess but I'd still want a team(preferably any), so let me take one if it's possible.:)

Fair warning - I really want to get this thing moving. If your squads aren't up by tomorrow, I'm going to auto-pick them to save time. After that, there's just the tedious task of putting them into the sim and we'll be on our way.

UPDATE - I've now picked the remaining two squads, and filled the index with them. Also, there's another announcement coming, so please - contain your excitement...

They didn't quite make the cut for the tournament, but China and South Korea will be playing two matches each in the warm-ups for this tournament. The Koreans showed their quality - particularly with ball in hand - in the recently concluded Asian Games, while China is cricket's biggest untapped market. There are also a few Chinese-origin players who may be tempted to journey to Asia in their off-seasons to play a couple of internationals. Look out for Park Taekwan, Jonathan Foo and Joe Leach!
