Mod's Note: Since these discussions creep up everywhere, I figured we might as well just have one big 'My sport is better than yours thread'. Have fun!

Cricket players are hurt by hard leather ball on faces, shoulders, legs, arms and one painfull area where you have family jewels. But still they dont show any sign of pain except in last case when they have no choice but to go down and all others around to start laughing.

Also players battle cramps and other injuries to guide temas out of trouble or to victory.

On other hand football players look for any opportunity to dive and act like they have been flattened by a buldozer. What sissys. :p

Football is an excuse for middle aged men to cry.

End of.

Lol. This just about explains it.

This is more like it.

Funn how football fans never feel the need to criticise other sports. Says it all really.

Footballers get real injuries i.e torn ligaments, broken legs. How many cricketers could come back from that Yes, there a few theatrics but there are real risks and if players have to seem over-zealous to avoid real injury, so be it.

Too right, Joe. Football is the bets sport on the planet. Other less significant sports' fans, maybe feeling insecure, feel the need to point out every negative they can find.

Football is better. Debate won.

Then why do you have 5,500 posts on a cricket forum?

I'm not going to sports bash or anything because I think it's stupid. I think Cricket has a lot more depth then soccer and thus makes it more interesting to watch.

Watching soccer is boring, for me at least. It's just a guy kicking a ball down the field, getting it stolen while some other guy does the same. Then eventually they kick it in the goal and woohoo.

I rest my case.

ya same here cricket is more popular than soccer now cuz look how many people watch the game of cricket rather than soccer and ya totally agree with you cricketman soccer is boring its doesnt require more skill than soccer facing 140+ delivery its tough and making quick decision

Football is the most popular sport in the world. That's a fact. You can try to argue that fact, but you'd fail miserably.

Those people who say football takes no skill are so unbelievably wrong and naive it's laughable.

Checkmate.

There are some twats in football who dive around all the time but they are a small minority that the non-football fans focus on. It's still a man's game. Besides, every sport has it's fairshare of twats. Just look at Bhaji and Sreesanth.

I aksed 'Who could come back from an injury like that' That guy obviously didn't.

As for your question on why I post on a cricket forum if Football is the better sport:

Firstly, it's a cricket gaming forum. I came here for Cricket 07 news not cricket discussion

Secondly, you assume I'm not part of a football forum which I am if you count BBC 606 discussion a forum (I joined yesterday)

Thirdly, if search results returned more than than my last 500 posts, I would be able to show you the ratio of posts I make per forum.

You say you're not gonna sports bash and then you do exactly that. Football is a lot faster-paced than cricket which is why there is a need for 20/20 to draw crowds. More people like Football than cricket and they do so for a reason.

And Jit, don't pretend you know anything about football. Lol, it doesn't require much skill...

I was just gonna say that Will. Football doesn't have to resort to new competitions to bring in the crowds.

Now I love cricket, but to say it's more popular than football is insane. And if modern day cricketers are so hard then take off the helmets, gloves, armguards, pads etc.

Again, I rest my case.

Someone in the 60's or something, a big competition broke his neck and carried on playing and if he fell on it or if he headed one more ball he would of died. Just helping out fellow footy fans. :)

I'm with Will and Matt.

Although an excruciating injury, Brown's injury and broken legs in general aren't really a demonstration of courage or toughness. You obviously don't get up after one of those and play out the game.

Try this one. In particular, the two players going for the ball at 1:00, the smothered kick at 1:35 and the mark at 3:03

This one's also pretty good, but the quality isn't.

I think the point of the first post is that old chestnut about players diving and making a big show for free kicks; that sort of behaviour exists throughout sport, though. You can't claim cricket is exempt, when we have controversy over players walking when not given out, excessive appealing, bump catches and more.
