Right I think we have come to a crossroad at Planetcricket. As everyone who has been on here for a year or more, PC has changed quite dramatically. We have found the forum becoming more Indian based and the average age of the member dropping. This has been reflected in the quality of the posting dropping and the overall experience of visiting PC being sullied.
Now I won't mention Golden Age and all that bull, things change, I know that. However, I have spoken to plenty of old and respected members on MSN, and yes, some of these guys are members of the staff team, and all have agreed in one way or another, that PC is on a downward spiral. The lack of a cricket game being released has not helped the situation, but still, this cannot account for the rubbish posting that has taken place by these newer members. Yes we have had some older members who used to spam at times, but at least they actually did contribute to the forum.
I won't mention names, I am sure they are more then aware who they are, but recently I have found more and more areas of the forum being taken over by these new members. For me the culmination of all this was when they started appearing in the Story Forum, with people asking mates from the Download Forum to spam post in their story.
I have been here a good few years now, so maybe can I give a little tip to these new members.
- No one cares about your Post Count. Spamming your way to a milestone gains absolutely nothing, you'll still be a spammer and not respected.
- vCash is not real. Seriously creating multiple accounts, and pestering people to get it, is really not needed.
- Reps. As the rules say. THEY ARE FOR FUN. I have noticed more and more people being bullied via reps, or on the other hand, people just swapping reps around to gain more. Really isn't needed guys.
- Different Opinions. We have people from New Zealand to USA on this forum. With there being so many people all with different cultures, try and understand where people are coming from, instead of just flaming them.
Now I would by no means say I am the perfect member but I do think I have given quite a lot to this forum and it really does sadden me to see it in such a state. I really do hope that people read this and take it on board and we begin to see some positive change, instead of the mess we see ourselves in.
So lets see if we can unite here at PC. Some of the older guys, mingling with some of the younger guys, instead of this massive gulf we have at present. Let's work to make PC the place it was and the place it can be
