Xbox 360

It's not "JUST" overheating that is the problem, the 3 red lights signifies a hardware error, not just overheating. The 360 has a fan Lee, thats the stupidly loud noise that you hear when trying to watch a DVD. The 360 is a poorly built machine, but becuase of the immense game catalogue and the fact that it was released a year and abit before the PS3 means that it has an advantage in the market. The only thing that the 360 offers that the PS3 doesnt is the depth of online play. The 360 has the best online system out there, Live is fantastic to use, the PSN system just doesnt stand up. The fact that the 360 is loud, poorly made, doesnt have a built in HD player, means that the PS3 is my system of choice. Microsoft really need to sort the 360 hardware problem out, and not just take the easy route of increasing the warranty.
I've heard about these overheating alot in a few days do the 360 gets overheated frequently ?

I had a scare the other day, when the 3 red lights showed up on my console but i turned it off then on again and it was back as usual??

1 question guys my mate has a xbox 360 elite and i have a premium we both have LIVE and i am wondering if you can play online with each other if you both have different consoles to the other?

Any Help?

Have anyone else's xbox's broke mine broke the other week. I had to get it off to be repaired. Hoping to get it back over the weekend, the problem was that it was a unplayable disc error.

Has this happend to you

Giving this thread quite a bit of a bump to mention my extreme happiness with what I bought today. A brand new 360 Arcade for $216, including Sega Superstars Tennis and the Arcade compilation disc. I got the Arcade because Microsoft are doing a deal for Arcade owners where they can get a 20GB HD for $35 delivered. Which means basically the old 360 Pro (before the HD upgrade) for $250, I call that very cheap.

I bought a few games (mostly second hand, because it is much cheaper that way), Test Drive Unlimited, Gears of War, PGR3 and Dead or Alive 4. As well as that, one of the charging cables for the controller and a VGA cable so I can plug it into my computer monitor. All up that was $130.

Hopefully I won't regret the purchase, but so far I'm very pleased with the price.

If you really wanna appreciate the kind of graphics your 360 can handle, rent Assassin's Creed. I say rent instead of buy since the game doesn't have much replay value, but some of the best graphics I've ever seen and decent gameplay with an incredible story line.

Or, try Grid if you want to see graphical superpower. I'd say a demo should do the job fine, it isn't the best game otherwise though...

GTA IV should be another good option Matt. :)

Well I was happy enough with the graphics on Sega Superstars Tennis. The new Xbox Experience update helped graphics by giving me my monitor's native resolution, but it is a bit blurry from being via VGA, better than composite though.

I'll look at those other games a bit later, but the more relevant issue for me is sorting out the networking. At the moment I have a single network cable running down to my room from a 4 port router in the lounge room.

To prove the point of cable running down to my room, here is a photo from above my door:

(yes I could have spent some money and had proper ports installed, but this was just the cost of the cable plus a few minutes drilling)

Now this was fine for just my PC, but at the moment I need to swap the cable between the 360 and PC to connect them to the internet. Now there two ways I've thought of doing this, getting a switch (possibly the most expensive solution) or running another cable down the house (my Mum wasn't to happy when I suggested this). What's the best way, and is there another I'm not thinking of?

Wireless components for the Xbox are down on price at the moment, well here in the UK they are, so I'd think they'd be similar in Australia.

Glad to see you've joined the correct gaming channel Matt. If you wan't to, add me on Xbl. Its simple, my XBL gamertag is identical to the one I use here! :p Simbazz

I got an arcade pack too yesterday. It came with the sega superstar, that arcade game and this karaoke thing. But the guy said I could trade that in and I got an extra 48 dollars which meant I could buy 2 games instead of the 1 I was planning. So I got Gears of War and Madden 08.
