Removed it because no one ever used it in the correct circumstances.
* Time span between search (new post)
You have to wait 60 seconds between searches, this is to prevent excessive search load, which was one of the factors in the server speed.

* Today's birthday in the welcome page.
Only appears now when users who are classed as 'active' have a birthday. That means only people who post regularly will show up.

* Live topic feature
Will try that again at some point, but it caused way too much server load, however other issues were also at play there, so it may work out better in the future.

* Quick Quote " thing
Probably could be turned back on, but it was put there to be used with the live topics. Unknown about its impact on server usage.

I was also going to post this thread. Thanks for explaining Matt but I dont think quick reply feature affect server load and that was great feature too so it can be turned on.

How were people using the rolleyes thing wrongly?

This is not done, next time the :cutit:swords smiley's would be used wrongly so will it be removed ? More than half use it the other way, but removing it it's not the way out imo.

Quite a few (and, without being racist, mostly young Indians) couldn't grasp that smilie was to show sarcasm, they thought it was to show a sort of smile. That particular smilie does more harm than good so it's right to remove it imo.

Oh gotcha. I can see why it would cause problems I guess

Yeah, even English uncles (< Respect) over-use it :)

There is a difference between overusing it and misusing it. I chalk it all up to the language barrier. Nephew

Sarcasm - Sarcasm is a form of humor that uses sharp, cutting remarks or language intended to mock, wound, or subject to contempt or ridicule.

Reckon the roll eyes smilie should be brought back but instead of calling it :rolleyes: we should call it :sarcasm: to counter the annoying misuse of it.

Thoughts?

;) absolutely correct usman we should call it :sarcasm: great idea.
