Make a team of the best and most effective players in the 3 Tests of the Ashes thus far. Here's mine:

1. Strauss
2. Katich
3. Ponting
4. Clarke
5. North
6. Haddin (wk)
7. Flintoff
8. Anderson
9. Hauritz - Has not been super awesome, but has definitely outbowled
10. Hilfenhaus
11. Onions

I almost picked Mitch Johnson because no one else has obviously been better: Broad has barely any scalps, Onions had one awesome spell but hasn't threatened a lot otherwise, Siddle has been patchy . Mitch would also lengthen the batting. It would add balance to the attack with a left arm option and since the other 3 pace bowlers picked are generally pretty tight I would feel comfortable letting Mitch loose. But in the end I picked Onions, thought it might look too biased otherwise

Collingwood is close but loses out for team balance. Otherwise, it's an Aussie dominated lineup. It's a shame really that England are up 1-0 given the numbers of Aussies who've played well.

Swann over Hauritz

Id say they're both equal in terms of performances. Id pick Hauritz because hes proved everybody wrong with his performances; he hasn't let anybody down.

Swann over Hauritz
How many wickets has Swann got? :p

Strauss
Katich
Ponting
Clarke
North
Flintoff
Haddin
Hauritz
Swann
Anderson
Hilfenhaus

Not a lot of change between sifter's and my side. Swann and Hauritz in together because they both have done well and there are no other fast bowlers who have done a good job.

The teams being picked are similar enough that we could, dare I say, announce an official Team of the Just Past Halfway Point of the Ashes 2009
