Whoever is saying that 2 Mbps unlimited connections have become "really" affordable in cities, forget about it. Airtel is around Rs 2200 or something a month. For people who earn its probably easy to acquire, but for us kids its pretty difficult to convince... :p

They are upgrading our lines soon to 20MBPS but for me, this is more than enough. I just got to upgrade my wireless router (my Linksys one is irritating with frequent dropout connection) and I would be good to go! Wish I could see this type of connection speed in India in the next 5 years (as common place, not just in a few high end metropolitan cities).

20 Mbps may be useless in a few years as HD and 3D films/shows develop.

While we're still posting speed test links...

Okay, that's probably not fair since it's from my work ISP. But I have a 12Mbps at home which costs about $45 a month before taxes. That's about equivalent to the cost for a 2Mbps line in India, in addition to all the intangible costs of waiting 2 weeks while the ISP installs the service for you.

Oh, and Google almost immediately responds: Google to launch turbo-speed Internet trials - washingtonpost.com
