Nation States

I'll pm you it. Hopefully that's fine with 6ry4nj...

It's totally up to you. Personally I'll give the password to anyone on here who has a nation and wants to 'migrate' it to the region.

Welcome to planet Cricket, Yudi!

There is a region called 'A Peaceful World' whose founder is closing it down. I am looking for a volunteer or volunteers who would like to refound it, because I feel 'A Peaceful World' is a name that deserves to live on! If there was only one volunteer, it would mean staying there until more nations could be recruited to join you. I would help with recruiting, and I would try to get Democratic Socialist Alliance involved as well. The volunteer would get the benefit of being the founder of a region, and one that may become quite significant as a 'rallying point' as time goes on. You would not have to be a WA member, in fact it would be better if you weren't - or at least if you didn't have any endorsements to lose.

There's no hurry I suppose. It has (at least) a few days of life left yet. And when it's gone, it doesn't have to be refounded instantly. The only risk is that it will be refounded by someone less 'enlightened' than us :p.

Any feedback on this guys? Positive, negative, neutral or barely relevant, I'd love to hear it. :yes

Just started playing
The Republic of Dartminch is a fledgling, pleasant nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The medium-sized government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 18%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Retail, Door-to-door Insurance Sales, and Trout Farming industries.

Crime is a problem. Dartminch's national animal is the Tiger, and its currency is the Dartmark.
Any guidance would be appreciated

Just made a flag for my nation. Tried keeping the stuff as simple as I could. The outcome wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

If we take over it, would it be counted as an invasion?

Papa Smurf, so good to see you here again! I thought we'd lost you! :)

No it's absolutely not an invasion. The way I understand it is, when the current founder empties it, it will cease to be. If one of us then puts in 'A Peaceful World' as the region we wish to move to, it will be re-created, with one of us as its new founder.

I don't think I've mentioned that a resolution on Freedom of the Press is currently at vote in the WA General Assembly. The freedom of the press - to the extent that is appropriate for good governance and social cohesion etc. etc. - is already irrevocably entrenched in Nayrbjan society. If you're like us - and of course you are - the only effect this resolution might make is that more of your taxes will fly pointlessly off to Coruscant or wherever. If you disagree with this analysis, you have roughly 3 days to change my mind. ;)

On a lighter note, I was wondering if it wasn't about time our region (and friends) inaugurated the Planetcricket Premier League (PPL). By this of course I mean a cricket league for cricket-loving NationStates nations like ourselves.

PS: 'A Peaceful World' may be within 48 hours of extinction, so action may be needed soon. If you have any further input on that score, I'd still love to hear.

3 days 4 hours ago: Following new legislation in Hamburgerlia, organised sports are frowned upon as frivolous.

All that for not wanting to host the Planetcricket regional olympics in Hamburgerlia.

I've managed to finally get all three indicators near eachother, and halved tax in the past few days:
Category: Left-Leaning College State
Civil Rights: Excellent Economy: Strong Political Freedoms: Excellent

Regional Influence: Diplomat

Location: Planetcricket

The Federation of Hamburgerlia is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 244 million enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Equality, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 16%. A large private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Book Publishing and Soda Sales.

The government is spending millions on renovating the public transportation system, the people are famous throughout the region for their bleached-white teeth, anti-government political posters adorn every building like wallpaper, and thousands of former welfare recipients are in a revolutionary uproar as the rest of society is enjoying a hefty tax break. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Hamburgerlia's national animal is the poliwhirl, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the convertable polygon.

Hamburgerlia is ranked 17th in Planetcricket and 56,544th in the world for Most Income Equality.

My murder rate is a little bit high, with 27% of deaths murder and 26% heart disease behind 43% old age. I haven't got a simple banning guns issue yet - the best I've done is a gun registry, but knowing how Nationstates works that might result in an increased murder rate.

It's been tough getting political freedoms up, but the "anti-government political posters adorn every building like wallpaper" made it shoot up 20 points.

I'm now at 244 million people, so I think I get a capital city soon.

The problem I had with repeated scenarios hasn't seemed to be a problem so far this time around, so they seem to have worked on that since last time.

Neutral. I don't mind shifting our region; I don't mind not moving either.

You got me as a proponent.

The People's Republic of Tzoi is a very large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its national health service. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 183 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 50%. A healthy private sector is led by the Tourism, Soda Sales, and Cheese Exports industries.

Citizens applying for their first jobs face fierce competition from the homeless, postmen have been arrested in job lots for selling junk mail as home insulation, the military frequently holds bake sales to raise funds, and genetic research is temporarily tied up in government red tape. Crime is relatively low. Tzoi's national animal is the Ewok, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Dollar.

10% murder rate isn't too good. I have HEAPS of education and healthcare spending though, and next to no military spending. All my three indicators are pretty close together, excellent civil rights, strong economy and superb political freedoms which i'm pretty happy about.

Hope not... I'm a peaceful nation. Like Switzerland.

The Kingdom of Kuragin

“Don't seize the day”

Civil Rights Lovefest
Civil Rights: World Benchmark
Economy: Strong
Political Freedoms: Superb

The Kingdom of Kuragin is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 235 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 73%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Book Publishing.
Pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government, Members of Parliament operate under a PAYE scheme, people are now classified as male, female, or genderqueer, and the government is pursuing a new programme aimed at promoting cultural sophistication. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown. Kuragin's national animal is the Lemur, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Pound.

Pretty pleased with where I'm headed. Started to turn pretty communist though.

On the issue up for discussion in the World Assembly I've voted against it purely on the basis that it isn't as far reaching as I'd like, specifically "International news media organisations can only operate from within a nation's borders (ie. utilising available media technologies to report news) when given explicit permission to do so" which to me is rather restrictive and somewhat against the idea of a free press. The media should be given a free rein in any WA country not only when they're given explicit permission to.

I only have a 1% murder rate! 64% of people die from old age whilst 27% pop their clogs through work related causes.

I have no murders. 58% old age, 38% heart disease and 4% Lost in the Wilderness.
