Looks like we should be happy to restrict them to 320. Horrible effort with ball and fielding too.
Ashwin hasn't done anything noteworthy in LOs since a very long time.
Pandya is necessary. We are going overseas for two big tournaments and we need to give him enough chance to prove himself. We need a fast bowling all rounder especially in those conditions and he has improved his bowling. Same goes for jadeja. He can be economical and he can score quick 30.[DOUBLEPOST=1484480245][/DOUBLEPOST]Exactly. And he got the cricketer of the year award and he was boasting about it all over the press. In my opinion, he's a self blowing trumpet and a one trick pony. Should be kept far away from limited overs cricket at least. He can't bat aggressively, is a lethargic fielder and a very very poor LOI bowler. Once a quality batsman gets after him, he has no temperament and skill to counter. You should see the way Maxwell caught him pants down a few IPL's before. He still had the nerve to challenge him in the press openly and made a fool out of himself.
There is one more thing here. India are playing a jaded and outdated brand of cricket. You see the number of dibble doubly cricketers in that XI? It's ridiculous!
1) Yuvraj - Is he the batsman he was? His value as a left arm spinner is undermined if Jadeja plays. His fielding has certainly deteriorated over the years.
2) Pandya - Bowling seems to have improved. Can give 6-7 overs I feel, but can you bank on 10 on him? I doubt. He's very inexperienced as a finisher as well. Could do with Raina at 6.
3) Jadhav - I don't think he's an off spinner and it's shameful to put him in the same bracket as Raina. I feel Raina has to be part of this side.
4) Jadeja- Asset in the field, 20-30 runs with the bat but I don't think he can be a 'match winner' with the ball.
My point is, India doesn't have match winning bowlers. They have fillers as bowlers and often hope the opposition gifts them a wicket to break open. I also for the life of me can't get why you would play Umesh ahead of Bhuvi. Bhuvi is a wicket taker up front and by far the better death bowler.
India's side should be-
Rahul
Rohit
Kohli
Dhoni
Yuvraj/Pandey
Raina
Pandya/Jadeja
Kuldeep Yadav
B Kumar
Shami
Bumrah
Kuldeep Yadav is young and a wicket taker. I feel limited overs is more about wrist spinners than finger spinners. Would love to see Chahal in the squad than the cricketer of the year or that Mishra.
India are again falling into the trap of playing outdated cricket with players way past their prime like they did in limited overs with the former 'big 3/4.'
I have a feeling Kohli likes yadav. He is below average in limited overs. Bhuvi should have been there in the team.I don't understand this obsession with Yadav. He's an average ODI bowler at best.
