This thing just caught my mind today . I think the "mankadding" stuff is good TBH . Just apply your common sense and think about that bowler who has to take the "no-ball" call even if just by tiniest of ..... you know . Law has to be equal for all . If it's for the bowlers so strict , the batsmen should also remain inside the crease until the ball is delivered .......

I think it should be about sportsman spirit of the players.

I have two different top six...

  1. Hayden
  2. Cook
  3. Sangakarra
  4. Tendulkar
  5. Yousuf
  6. Waugh
This is the one which IMO would be the best statistically.

  1. Warner
  2. Sehwag
  3. Younus
  4. Kallis
  5. Chanderpaul
  6. VVS/ Misbah
These are my favorites of each column.

From the videos that I have watched , Steve Waugh was a special gem . Those clean wristy flicks and then the powered sweep shot , too awesome ....

Let's go!
1. Hayden for the aggression
2. Need some solidity at the other end, so Langer, who'll have lots of chemistry with Hayden
3. Sangakkara
4. Lara (both of them because they’re just so good to watch)
5. I'll have to be a bit biased here and go for Yousuf, he always looked as if he wasn’t even trying to score runs, while scoring loads
6. S Waugh to marshal the troops
Obviously just my favourite top six, not the best

  1. Graeme Smith, because he had a pretty balanced record in all countries and was a very brave opener.
  2. Cook would have been the most appropriate but he is both left handed and defensive so I've opted to go with Sehwag, one of the most revolutionary test cricketers in history for his aggression.
  3. Ponting. He was averaging close to 60 before his extended slump towards the end of the career that has adversely affected his stats and general perception of him. He should have long retired by that point. At his peak though, a worthy contender to the title of Bradman's heir.
  4. I've gone back and forth on this but ultimately Sachin's overall record in all countries and the excellent technicall skill that he exhibited sways it in his favour. Another batsman who was affected by an extended decline at a point when he should have retired earlier. Not a lot of batsmen can comeback from a career threatening injury and still remain potent as ever like him, which speaks of the adaptability he possessed.
  5. A tight contest between Flower and Chanderpaul who both played for comparatively weaker sides and had more pressure on them. In the end, Flower wins out for not only being so good with the bat, but also for being the country's best batsman and the keeper for so long.
  6. Obvious choice in Waugh. Greatest test captain in history and an incredible, tough as nails batsman to boot.

Just my personal choices along with a big wall of text to justify why. :)

  1. Cook - Born to open
  2. Hayden - Would have loved to have Sehwag but the rule of choosing one player from each column prevented that. So had to take the next best option who will keep the scoreboard ticking
  3. Ponting - Cannot think of anyone better suited for #3 than him
  4. Kallis - Dependable batsman, more than handy bowler. Need I say more?
  5. Clarke - Another player who seems to have made #5 his position
  6. Waugh - The warhorse

Let's go!

1. Greame Smith (love him ... would even lead the team for me if not for S. Waugh)
2. Cook (excellent opener)
3. Ponting (to domintate after the top 2 see out the new ball)
4. Tendulkar (stats, favoritism, sheer skill, class act)
5. De Villiers (the final punch to bat the opposition out of the game after the top 4 have had their say)
6. Steve Waugh (kill any hopes for the opposition in the unlikely event that they get early wickets)
