Future WTC Editions- What would you change?

Not sure whether this is the most relevant sub-forum for this discussion, but anyway let me carry on until a mod does the needful

The latest FTP from the ICC reveals 4 future editions of the coveted WTC.

2025: WTC Final
2027: WTC Final
2029: WTC Final
2031: WTC Final

While the first one would most likely pave the way for the success of the editions to come, I would be very keen on understanding from fellow members as to the changes you would want in the subsequent editions.

Let me start:

1. Equal number of games for each side
2. Simpler points system
3. Bonus point for innings/ 10 wkt wins/ away wins
4. 2 -tier system of promotion and relegation
5. Final to be at a neutral venue always

Do you propose 4- day tests vs such nations?

I'd prefer two groups of the twelve nations; roughly based on rankings.

2 matches per series, home and away. Played as a seperate thing (so the teams could play regular 'traditional' 3, 4 or 5 match series as well). If that's too much test cricket (is there such a thing?) you could make the 1st and last match of each series a WTC game.

That means teams play the same number of games.

For the 3 groups - you could have the top teams in a round robin - or add the best placed second team to make a semi final. And have a mini-test tournament over 3 weeks.

Would Australia or England boards complain about playing extra test matches that aren't 'Ashes' games?

I was trying to find the actual scoring system for the Asian test Championship held in 1998/1999. Unfortunately was only able to land this Wiki article.

Interesting scoring arrangement here as teams can be awarded points for their batting and bowling prowess during a game. This tilts the scales in terms of an all-round game. Meaning teams can benefit from playing quality cricket- for. e.g, the recent Ind v Eng/ Ind v Aus series- we were treated to great cricket all around. That's what we want form a game, dont we?

In the ATC 1998/99, we see the below table where Pak clearly topped, but India and SRL had to battle it out over a singular point.

This can make a huge difference in the coming cycles of the WTC.

100 overs per day, from Thursday to Sunday. Switch to a pink ball if light fades too early. Or just play all Tests as day-night matches.
