Oh man some of your are so pathetic, Matt, course i read news papers, thats why i know;

1. They left there children in a locked room, which was checked half hourly.

2. The two parents where within 50ft of the door, and could see the door.

3. 20 minutes earlier the children were sleeping like babies, well they arn't they.

Do you boys think its easy for kids to be up at 7AM, playing on the beach till 6PM then stay awake until after tea? No! Thousands of parents leave there children like that, the only thing differnt here is its in Portugal, i know my auntie would happily leave my two younger cousins in a hotel room in the same situation, its extremely rare, but it happens.

Either way some of the stuff you boys are say is plain pathetic. Neglect is where a child isn't brought up, they're dragged up, things like not telling them to go to school, brought up without learning lessons of respect etc. Thats neglect, the thing the Mccann's did, although they're beating themselves up about it, isn't neglect!

Neglect mate, is when you dont care about your children, dont feed them....etc., its just a simple case of 'you dont know what you've got till its gone'. And if their rooms were checked half hourly then the person who was supposedly looking after them didnt do a very good job, did they?
When my parents once took me and my sister to Portugal when we were little, my Mum and Dad booked a babysitter, waited till she arrived and then left. And apparently there were plenty of babysitters on offer. It was their own fault.

also, my Mum has just told me, that they turned babysitters down because they didnt have the money. Yet, they were going off to an expensive restaurant for dinner.

Neglect means to leave uncared for or to leave undone. Welldone you're correct evertonfan but, Neglect may also refer to:

The neglect of children is generally about three times more common than physical abuse and about six times more common than sexual abuse.

So these are two different things, Neglect and Child Neglect!

There was a babysitting service provided by the hotel which they decided not to take...
They seem like the sort of parents that would just send their kids to the kids club and just go sunbathing all week then lock them in the room at night.
When I was that age, my parents would not have let me out of their sight, unless they knew it was safe.
Does anyone actually believe they did go back every half hour? Why would you eat a meal, be half way through then have to cross over the road and check every 30 mins =/ wouldn't happen.
And Simbazz, I know you are getting at calling me, evortonfan and covlad pathetic, anyway, why is this case special? How many kids die/go missing each year? One girl is taking over the internet/news and a lot of other things.
I think it is quite pathetic that you care so much about someone you have never seen and it is just one case out of many but the only to be broadcast on this large scale.IT IS NOT WORTH IT! And if 10,000 parents worldwide would do it, every single one is wrong but they just are not unfortunate enough to have anything like this happen.

This is wat i meant by 'over-hype'. A lot of children go missing in a year in Britain, yet one in Portugal gets BIG headlines.
Its stupid.

And also can you remeber exactly what happened to you when you were 3 or 4? I think not, when/ if Maddy is found, in a couple of years she won't even remember what happened, so that isn't really an issue, unless she brings physical scars away from this. But of course it isn't Maddy's fault, but the parents deerve to be punished.

No, this proves that you should stop arguing with Simbazz that neglect means that and neglect means that! I have stated what Simbazz said in his post which is referred to child neglect and what you and evertonfan are saying is normal neglect!

But it's happening to her now and she is fully aware. and of course she will remember this. she's old enough.
