I am wondering, whenever somebody posts a youtube video, you guys immediately remove it.

However, youtube is legally allowed to host it, so I am wondering, how come you won't allow it?

I feel that these rules need to be relaxed a little, because if it was illegal, they would be removed by Youtube. Like the videos from the World Cup, the ICC didn't want them there, so they made Youtube remove them.

Sometimes people in discussion wish to post a reference to a video - surely that should be allowed - because you guys aren't hosting the video, so therefore you would not be in trouble.

Can we please have the rules relaxed about this? :D

i think there might be any reason. may be the site is illegal as i don't know much about youtube.

Youtube is allowed to host the videos because of the DMCA, which essentially means they can violate copyright until the copyright holder sends a request to have it removed (a takedown notice). When this takedown notice is received it is removed, not before, so thousands of infringing videos remain. Basically just because Youtube can host it, doesn't mean it is legal for you to link to it.

There is no ban on posting links to youtube videos. There is a ban on posting links to illegally uploaded copyrighted material.
So posting links to a clip from say, oh, I dont know, ok a clip from the VB Series in 2005 from Youtube.

Would that be allowed - if its like, a funny incident that happened during the game, or something of the sort?

What Andrew means is that there shouldn't be any kind of copyright issue in that video such as the TV Channel's logo there. That's illegal but if the video is lets say home made and is posted by a user without any copyright issues that video can be posted on PC without any problem.

Intellectual rights laws are coming up fast all around so I presume that Planetcricket's stance is to be safe rather than sorry. My personal opinion is that Youtube is a good service, illegal or not, but of course that does not hold sway with the lawmakers of the various international democracies.

We've got no problem with YouTube and indeed there's even a Codies channel where you can see a lot of their videos.
If people want to upload YouTube's of them playing C07 or BLIC that's cool; just not links to illegal material such as films or sports highlights.

I knew you guys had no problem with C07 or BLIC

But what about say a reference to a Shane Warne delivery?

A 5 second clip from say, Warne's ball in the 2005 Ashes that bowled Strauss?

If it doesn't have any TV Channel overlay or it's logo on the 5 second clip its perfectly fine :).
