PES2008 Demo

I don't buy my games on reviews, I buy my games on what I like, and I like PES more than FIFA. Every year I both and every year I prefer PES. Will it change this year? As I haven't played the PES demo I don't know, but it surely can't be as bad as it's FIFA counterpart.

I just looked at the PS2 gameplay vid on youtube.com then...my goodness. Do they care about PS2 anymore?

The game looks exactly the same and doesnt seem to have any new animations. As a loyal PS2 man all I want is a freakin few new animation for every shot an pass. I know with the PS2 capabilities you cant improve the graphics - so work on other parts of the game!

However, I have read reviews saying the PS2 PES is better then the next gen PES...I hope they are right. They need to remember that PS2 hasn't just fallen off the face of the Earth and that there are millions of people who still have one and use it!

Having played the PES demo to death now with the demo expander, I find myself liking it the more I play. I tried comparing it to FIFA08, which I rented yesterday.

Ball physics seem to the major grip in this years FIFA. To many who have never played PES, they will look stunning. To those who have played PES in the past, especially 5 and 6, they will look like the ball is in zero G.

The problem with FIFA is that you dont feel like you are kicking a real ball. It pings around the pitch like on puppet strings. I feel you get the real weight on the PES ball, as if you feel the player kicking it.

I was however impressed with this years FIFA, which I must say is a much better effort than previous years. Of course, we cant judge until the full PES is released, but it looks like a corker. FIFA appears though to be trying to hard to be PES, which seems to get it closer every year. Could they ever collide and make the perfect game perhaps?

Anyone on for a match on FES?

This is turning into the best football game i've ever played. Why can't I have the full game right now?!

I've just scored a beautifully ugly goal with Torres. Had a shot from about 25 yards which was aimed to the right, hit one of the Brazilian defenders en route and deflected into the bottom left hand corner, which completely beat the keeper's dive to the right. Such a realistic thing to happen that you just don't see in FIFA.

Pro Evolution Soccer - Premier League Football - quick, smooth, beautiful football making it 'arcadey'

Fifa - League 2 Football - Slower, requiring more build-up and less goals making it 'more realistic'

I know which I prefer

Even if I wanted to play a League Two match i'd still choose PES. Of course i'd have to actually patch it so that I have a League Two first. ;)

My provisional judgment is that PES wins the battle this year again. Albeit, i've only played the PES demo whereas i've played the full FIFA game. Wait a minute, how can it be that a demo of a game is better than an entire one? Because PES owns, that's why.

It's just a damn pity I have to wait 4 damn weeks for it. I could probably get a leaked PC torrent of it but no way could my laptop handle it. I want it for the PS3 anyway, it's just gonna kick rectum.

Newcastle licensed anyone? Hello? Oh why do I bother...
