Their hearing is absolutely shocking. They really need to clear out their wax or give the job to some younger blokes.

Mistakes in todays game.

Punter clearly edging it down legside on 17 - Not out
Punter inside edging it onto pad - Out lbw
Andrew Symonds edging it to keeper - Not out.

3 in one day. And people were bitching about Billy Bowden making 1 mistake last week :/

Not good enough,. Both Bucknor and Benson made a real bad one each.

Bowden made more than one in the last game as far as I'm concerned. But the umpiring in the series has been bordering on absolute rubbish.

Steve Buknor is worst umpire India could have asked for. He will give Sachin and Saurav out in his sleep and will look at Indian bowlers when they appeal as if they are criminals.

If I was any of Indain playing test match I would have given Buknor drink with some medicine to start loose motions (we call it jamalghota here) last evening considering his record with Indian team.

P.S: Ashoka DeSilva is far worse than Bucknor though.

Steve Bucknor has a history of treating the Indians badly.

The overall umpiring has been quite poor. That's bad. I don't think Benson ought to have officiated too. We need serious quality for an India-Australia series.

Bucknor, the blind (and now deaf) old bat needs to retire. I don't give a crap about his reputation - he's always been a mediocre umpire in my book. Never seen him had a really good game... Why the hell he gets the favour of the ICC is beyond me, unless there are other issues than merit playing a role...

Yes, I am mad that this guy has screwed India for over a decade now and still the BCCI has not boycotted him.

He was a great umpire in the mid-90's when he had the service of his eyes and ears. Unluckily he's officiating at Perth as well.

Even at his best, he was nowhere near as good as Venky was. Now that man is a legend but just because he's an Indian umpire, he's not got the recognition he deserved.

Dont worry Indians fans will have some plans to make him sick before next match. :p:cool:

I might get some heat from some of you guys but in my opinion it is because of lack of "punishment" (cant find a better word) for umpiers that make bad decisions. and its not like players can bring it up to someone with all the rules that the ICC have to prevent players from showing any emotions.

When a players does somthing wrong like stand his ground or disagree with the umpiers when they make a bad decison that even a 10 year old kid could make they get fined/suspended in some cases but the umps dont face any punishment as a result of the bad decisions that they make.

If the umps get paid for matches than they should get some sort of financial penalty, just a small-ish amount. Im not saying LBWs they are harder to judge but edges like Pontings in this match or clear catches not given out.
A player tha claims a catch when the ball bounced a cm infront of his hands can face punishment by the ICC if he claims that catch, but if a umpire gives a clean catch centimeters above the ground not out he doesnt face any penalty.

I know that there flaws in my plan but there should be some sort of penalty. On the other hand there are plenty of flaws in the ICC plans so you cant blame me for trying lol.:p

Its just the way of the game, But the umpiring standrads have been poor in the past couple of series, The England vs Sri Lanka uprining was pretty bad( im not using it as an excuse becuase we played complete and utter rubbish, we fielded ver badly as well and didnt apply ourselvs with the bat,) and you say that the umpiring has been bad in the India vs Australia maybe its time the ICC looked into their umpires maybe appointed some umpires from the state/county game that are of a good quality. Venkat and Sheppard were two very good umpires

pity aleem dar is all the way in south africa umpiring a quite pointless series

Why is it pointless? West Indies upset them, their first win in ages. Sounds like a great series to me. Umpires on the elite panel should all be good enough. They shouldn't go, Aleem Dar is better then Bucknor, let's put him in this big game.

Oh get over it.

You try standing in the middle of a cricket pitch with a large crowd of people chanting, cheering and generally making a fair bit of noise. Then you try and listen for a feint sound and then try and be certain that its the sound of ball on bat, not a number of other noises. Try and do all this not knowing which delivery its going to happen and without replays, a bunch of commentators telling you its out, hot spots and snick-o-meters.

Remember the umpire should be certain to give someone out, if he has any doubt at all he can't give it. Umpires wont be 100% accurate and they don't need to be, it's been the same story for 100's of years. You won't find 1 person in the entire world who will get it right 100% of the time.

Actually what you should be moaning at is that batsmen don't walk anymore. That is something relatively new to cricket and it just seems to be acceptable these days whereas it shouldn't be.

when an umpire is brung to the first class level, he is obviousley tested and had of course passed the test if there was one. i'd like bucknor and the other ump to sit that sort of test.
