Pakistan v West Indies
Good Start By Pakistan
Well then the first game is going underway now, and it is the first match of the World Cup this year. The first ball will be bowled by Rao Iftikhar-anjum to Chris Gayle... and it is a dot. Devon Smith(25) and Chris Gayle(27) open the West Indian attack, in which the team has some youth in it but it also has the experience of Lara(37) and Chanderpaul(32) Anyway we will see how they get on.
Explosive start

An early wicket has been taken, and only in the first over! 4 balls in and West Indies are already 4/1, amazing stuff to get the wicket in the first place though. A tough delivery to deal with as I'r-anjum cranked up the pace for a quick one which Gayle couldn't read, after just hitting a four off a slow one and he hit it straight into Younis Khan's hands. He looks distraught down there but looking at the Pakistanis celebrate shows how much the first wicket of the tournament means to them. Beautiful stuff.
West Indies fight back

Well the West Indians are being resilient and are clawing back the game into their hands. Chanderpaul hit a beautifully timed shot which just carried itself to the boudary before Umar Gul was unfortunate with a bowl that went for 4 byes past Pakistan Keeper Kamran Akmal. WIndies are getting their fight and confidence back and we could be in for a treat here. With Lara still to come in aswell, anything can happen.
Afridi Claims Victim

A long pitched delivery after a short delivery has given Afridi the edge over Dwayne Smith in the mental state anyway, but he has also claimed him as his first wicket. Dwayne went to hit a forcing shot but ended up playing all around it and the ball went on to hit the stumps. Shahid Afridi's first wicket and in this form which he has shown in practice aswell, it looks like it won't be his last. Brian Lara now in, the West Indian Captain.
Quack Quack

Shock of the day, with the score on 60/2 after 19.2 overs Brian Lara goes for a 2 ball duck to make the score 60/3 after 19.3 overs. It was a normal full length ball but when it bounced the pace quickened, abit like the first wicket, and decieved Brian Lara who went too late and he just edged it, again into Khan's hands. A superb ball by Gul gets the most important wicket so far and from here on Pakistan shouldn't have too many problems. Umar Gul's bowling today has been nothing short of inspirational. Pakistan in pole position.
Well after the first 20 overs it seems that Pakistan have defeated West Indies in every aspect of the game. They are playing with pride and skill and seem to want it more. Although West Indies still have a good line up to come in but can they salvage something from this wreck of a score? Stay tuned for more.
