It made me laugh when the Aussies were saying 'Wow! A world first! Gilly n Symmo have mics!' when that has been done for 5 years here.

well we didnt know that england had mics for their players. i think it is cool to mike the players up. get to know what they are up to.

He obviously doesn't commentate for Nine 24 hours a day. I'm sure both teams were in the same commentary area anyway.
Sorry if I didn't realise that people commentate for two different stations in one match. Something tells me Kerry Packer wouldn't have authorised something like that, and the current executives couldn't be too happy about it these days I should think.

Ian Chappell has signed a contract with ESS.
ESS has allowed him to commentate for Channel 9.He is not there as an expert.I doubt Chappell analyses the game in the studio at C9.

Thank god he doesnt. He talks absolute trash and his analysis would probably be only slightly better than mine:rolleyes:.

Anyways, this was actually started by Sunil Gavaskar and Mr. Bhogla, both of whom look for every reason possible to criticise the Aussie cricket team. ESPN commentary is heavily biased. Chappell's presence there, somewhat balances it well.

He he he...
I agree with you.

ESS have lost two good members-NS Sidhu & Boycott.During those days,it used to be really biased.

Chappell drives me nuts, he comes across as an old grumpy man complaining about everything.

No harm in nicknames. Crowds at ground can even hardly witness whats written on back of someone unless the guy stands at boundary.

But i was considering how would i know whos who if i watched any player for first time on TV. There could be times when you have to turn off TV volume and just watch cricket action.

Even for us,well it was hard to make out, though i managed to understand a few who's who.

Clarke- Pup
Gilchrist- Church
Ponting-Punter
Noffke-Wombat
Bracken-Andy G ?
Lee- Binga
Tait-Sloon

Btw,any one know why Stuart Clark=Sarfraz ?

I'm guessin coz the action is pretty similar to that of the former Pakistani Fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz.

Every commentary is highly biased because you gotta be popular to keep your job, especially for a high-profile company like ESS. I, for one, find Channel 9 commentators extremely biased.

I don't see why they wouldn't be happy with it. If they don't have an exclusive contract to Chappell then they really aren't entitled to any sort of opinion about what else he does, unless he is insulting Channel 9 behind their backs.
