Let's play a prediction game. I think England will win by 12 runs.
I trusted India for 10 runs too many it seems. What a brilliant hand by Bumrah and Siraj. If only Jaddu could have played a little more freely but cannot blame him when the long list of batsmen decide to crumble. Don't let the failure of our specialist batsmen hide under the valiant efforts of KL, Jaddu, Bumrah and Siraj. Lord's is one ground in England where India have had a good record but today was not to be.

Washington's match awareness while batting has been appalling. He is a handy lower order batsman however lacks the awareness to play with the tail which Jadeja showed today.

Irrespective of the result, it was a fantastic day of proper gruelling cricket which would leave both teams proud. That said, India have plenty to think about what went wrong - be it a needless Pant run-out in first innings or Washy exposing the tailenders or Karun Nair's inexplicable no-shot. If Karun doesn't score big in the next match, unfortunately, it would be the beginning of the end at international for him but even for that he needs to get selected in final XI for the next match.

When a game is that close, every single person on the losing team could find cause to blame themselves, and every single person on the winning team could find cause to claim credit for making the difference.

At all levels of cricket it hurts more to lose one you could so nearly have won than it does to lose one where you got absolutely battered.

Jadeja only scores in losing causes. He will never go for the win, even though he is well settled.

Epic series already!
I would disagree! England have made it interesting by selecting the wrong XI each time. It has been a decent watch, but wouldn't call it epic tbh.

I feel the only good thing from this loss being that Karun will not feature in the remaining test matches. Enough is enough!

He has proven that he is a domestic giant capable of batting on flat tracks. Ditto with Jaiswal. With the series already gone, it might be better to get Sai and Easwaran in. Or fly in Shreyas and let him swap out Karun.

Is it odd that I would rather us lose by 90 runs than 9? Hurts that much more.

No. 10 and 11 showed great courage. Can't really blame anyone here. This is what I don't mind. Lose, but not without a fight.

I don't mind losing in such matches.

At the end of the day a good spectacle for test match cricket.

Aislabie summed it beautifully. It hurts more because we tend to think what could have and would have been done. Now the match is over we can applaud both teams for the nail biter of a match.

Shoaib Bashir is out of the series. It raises the interesting question of whether they'll shoehorn Jacob Bethell in, or just smash the button marked "Jack Leach"

Leach any good at golf?
As I understand it, he's a middling recreational player.

I always got the impression that England's problem with him was that if he looks funny at the wrong item of food at lunch on Day One, he won't leave the toilet again until late on Day Five.
