I don't see how that is important. Incidentally he is correct that when a team scores over 300 we are more often than not out of it. We have more 'proper' batsman than most other nations. Players like Bell can play some stunning shots but generally our players cannot adapt their game efficiently...
England have not lost to Bangladesh and are the only team still unbeaten against them : http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru/engine/team/25.html?class=11;template=results;type=team
I said it before and I'll say it again: the powerplays are(In general) no longer for thrashing the ball around. They are for briskly, but not recklessly, building a platform for the rest of the team. Hats off to the two they have done it well, though there are clear areas for improvement with...
South Africa didn't want to frontload their batting because if Gibbs and De Villiers were taken early then they would have lost their two most explosive batsmen. Opening with Amla is a clear signal they want to build a platform rather than blast forwards. Although they are having to make do with...
Without exaggeration that was one of England's greatest one day performances. A really satisfying victory. I'd be reluctant to change the team for this series but with the upcoming one dayers I'd be more inclined to replace Bell with Trott. I have been saying he should be in the team for a while...
Denly isn't quite there yet in one day cricket. We really need to stop putting players who perform in First Class cricket into the ODI team. Good domestic one day performers should go into the ODI squad and good First Class performers into the Test squad.
Anyway a very impressive performance...
I wouldn't be too worried about this slow-ish start. Building a platform is in vogue nowadays as Twenty20 has shown what can be scored in the last few overs. Of course being able to score quickly at the start and the end would be magnificent but let's take it one step at a time.
Oh and...
Finally! The strike is for the actors who don't get the big roles - those with sporadic appearances. The "Hollywood" actors are striking for these people as much as they are for themselves, because as big names they can attract more media attention.
Amla is a really good player, he is quite different to Pietersen, in fact I'd dare say he is the natural replacement for Kallis. He is very classy but not as vivacious as Pietersen.
Everyone was really fast today - Anderson and Broad regularly reaching 90 for example. It was more the pitch than anything else. Though of course you are right that Wright is more than a medium pacer.
Collingwood deserved that ban, not for the run out incident but because England consistently have appauling over rates in both Test and ODI cricket. Of course Collingwood isn't responsible for the Test cricket part, he is at least a deserving scapegoat to hopefully dissuade captains from bowling...
